PD:  How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?

The Slumbering: Doom Noise  if you mixed Mz412 with Godflesh with moments of Esoteric

 

PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.

The Slumbering: Just moved to Texas by way Florida.. Lived in Arizona for a Decade for that.. started  with Metal Doom and Black metal.. Moved into dark ambient and harsh noise . I have recorded many albums under names such as Long Winters Stare, As All Die , When Joy Becomes Sadness and Now  this the 3 rd release with The Slumbering

 

PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?

The Slumbering: Folks like Devin Townsend, Nordvargr, Ihsahn , Ulver, In Slaughter Native . Those that break genres and sound.. I like to make those rethink on how music presented and shift those ideas.. I like to write about the Occult, Fantasy, Other Worldly themes..

 

PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?

The Slumbering: To make music and sounds that move me nothing less

 

PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?

The Slumbering: Working with so many interesting labels and have people respond positive or negatively touring, emails or chatting..

 

PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?

The Slumbering: I thank Aesthetic Death and Trepanation Recordings both working so hard on the 3 albums I’ve been lucky to work with them on all these releases.. and now with Zach on MDPR we are going on the next chapter . The album not out till mid May so just started but this interview came from this so ..

 

PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?

The Slumbering: The Slumbering has not played live but I have some offers and may do some this summer..

 

PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?

The Slumbering: I think downloading is just as viable any any other format.. I like that anyone can listen at anytime from anywhere. The more exposure the better .

 

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

The Slumbering: God only knows by the Beach Boys .. it the most beautifully arranged pop song i have ever heard .. I actually haunts me how much an earworm it is..

 

PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?

The Slumbering: The short attention span of music of music today.. I think we need long and short …complex and simple and that is what I try to change in 2023..

 

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?

The Slumbering: Currently just finished a Grindcore meets Noise rock project called Cat Dick Inc with my friend and musical cohort Ryan .. we are seeking a home soon for this. We want this to be vinyl and digital only ..
