Interview with Mikey Woolard Drummer of Inherently Lost Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (https://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
MW: We’re a combination of influences spanning from metal to hardcore to just about anything else you can imagine for the most part. Everyone has creative freedom in the band which I think makes it super unique.
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
MW: For me personally I’m from a small town you’ve probably never heard of called Newton Falls, Ohio. Music was always in my family so I kind of just carried the torch.
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences?
MW: Kiss made me want to be in a band. As far as musical influences go these days I have so many artists that influence me in equal amounts that I could be here all day naming them.
PD: What do you like to write about in your songs?
MW: I don’t write lyrics because I’m a horrible lyricist. That is Noreen’s and Mark’s territory. All of our songs reach out to a darker mental space and I think that’s great.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
MW: I just want to have fun if I’m being honest. A tour would be cool or even make a living off of it but I won’t hold my breath. The music business is pretty bleak these days.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
MW: So far it’s having our song “Unraveling Sanity” played on the radio.
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new
artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
MW: It’s going. No matter how much you promote it seems like no one goes to local shows anymore. Majority of people are too busy buried in their phones. We’re building a following though.
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
MW: I don’t book. Mark does that via networking, email, social media etc. As far as I know we don’t have anything set in stone for 2024. Just focusing on the new album.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
MW: I don’t really care how people consume music. It helps people discover us easier via algorithms.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
MW: “Slow Hand” by Conway Twitty. That hook “darlin’ don’t say a word, I’ve already heard” is brilliant.
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
MW: Record labels blow but it’s always been that way. I don’t even know where to begin
with things I want to change about the industry because I’m not a significant enough part of it to care.
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
MW: Currently we’re working on finishing writing and recording our full length album “Art of Corruption”
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
MW: We’re on every major social media platform and streaming platforms.
