PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
ABZY: I would describe myself as a solo artist who blends raw emotion, powerful energy, and diverse musical styles. My sound is a mix of metal, rock, and introspective moments, with lyrics that often reflect personal struggles, societal issues, and human experiences. I strive to create music that resonates deeply with listeners, offering both heavy, intense moments and softer, more reflective ones. As an artist, I’m all about authenticity and evolution, constantly pushing myself to grow and connect with my audience in meaningful ways.
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc?
ABZY: I’m from Kuwait, where the metal scene is pretty much non-existent, which has driven me to expand my audience and grow as an artist. Music has always been a part of me—it’s the one thing that
keeps me going. I started creating music because it’s the best way for me to express my emotions and experiences. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills as a singer, songwriter, and producer. I’ve been inspired by life, the struggles I’ve faced, and the world around me. Through my music, I aim to connect with others who can relate to those feelings and experiences.
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
ABZY: I’m inspired by life itself—everything I go through, the ups and downs, and the world around me.
The struggles I’ve faced, from growing up in a broken family to dealing with personal pain, have shaped my music. Musically, I’ve been influenced by bands like Slipknot, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, and many others who have shaped the heavy music scene.
In terms of songwriting, I like to write about personal experiences—things that people can relate to. Whether it’s dealing with toxic relationships, reflecting on past mistakes, or exploring societal issues, I aim to create music that resonates emotionally and authentically. My goal is for my songs to not only be a reflection of my journey but also a source of connection and empowerment for others.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
ABZY: As an artist, my aspirations are to continue growing, evolving, and reaching more people with my music. I want to create a lasting impact, not just through my songs but by building a community of listeners who can relate to the emotions and stories I share. Expanding my fan base and eventually touring internationally are big goals for me, as I want to bring my music to more people and connect with them live. Ultimately, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own journeys, face their struggles, and find strength through music.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
ABZY: The proudest moment in my music career so far has definitely been releasing my debut album, Hollow Bloom. It’s the culmination of so much hard work, personal growth, and dedication. Creating the album entirely on my own, from writing to production, was a huge challenge, but also incredibly rewarding. Seeing it come together and finally sharing it with my fans has been a major milestone. The positive feedback and knowing that people are connecting with my music makes all the effort worthwhile.
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new
artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
ABZY: Promoting music in today’s world is definitely a challenge, especially with so many new artists emerging from home studios. The digital landscape is flooded with talent, and standing out can feel overwhelming at times. However, I see it as an opportunity to be creative in how I connect with my audience. Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitch have been great tools for me to engage directly with fans, share behind-the-scenes content, and showcase the creative process.
While it’s tough to get noticed in such a crowded space, the key is consistency, authenticity, and building a loyal community. I’m focused on staying true to my sound and message, and I know that with time and dedication, the right people will find and connect with my music.
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
ABZY: Booking and promoting my live shows and tours is a mix of personal outreach, networking, and using social media to build awareness. I usually reach out to venues or promoters directly, especially in regions where I see strong fan interest, and I also rely on my online community to help spread the word. Social media plays a huge role in promoting upcoming shows—whether it’s through posts, stories, or live streams, I try to keep my fans engaged and excited for upcoming performances.
As for performances, I’m hoping to perform more in the near future, especially in the GCC region and possibly abroad. While nothing is officially planned yet, I’m working on expanding my fan base and looking for opportunities to bring my music to more live audiences. It’s definitely something I’m excited to do more of!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
ABZY: I think downloading music online and using streaming sites like Spotify have become essential parts of how people consume music today. It’s made music more accessible than ever, allowing artists to reach global audiences with ease. Streaming platforms, in particular, have opened up a world of opportunities for independent artists like myself, enabling us to share our work with people from all over the world without needing a major label behind us.
On the flip side, the downside is that streaming doesn’t always provide fair compensation for artists, especially smaller ones. But at the same time, it’s an amazing tool for exposure. As an artist, I try to balance both—releasing my music on streaming platforms to reach as many people as possible, while also encouraging fans to support me directly when they can, whether through buying music or merchandise.
Overall, I see streaming as a great way to connect with listeners, but I also hope that the industry continues to evolve in a way that supports artists fairly.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
ABZY: One song I wish I’d written is “In the End” by Linkin Park. The way it blends raw emotion with powerful lyrics and an unforgettable melody is something I deeply admire. It resonates with so many people and has become an anthem for those dealing with struggles and uncertainty. The song captures a universal feeling of perseverance and acceptance, and I love how it combines elements of rock and rap to create something so unique. It’s a perfect example of how music can connect people and express complex emotions in a way that’s both relatable and impactful.
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
ABZY: One thing I don’t like about the music industry is how often the focus is placed on commercial success rather than artistic integrity. It can be frustrating to see so many talented artists being overlooked because they don’t fit into a specific mold or trend. I think the industry should prioritize creativity, individuality, and the true passion behind the music, rather than just what’s popular or easily marketable.
If I could change something, I would push for a more level playing field for independent artists. There are so many incredibly talented musicians out there who don’t have the resources or connections to break through, and I believe the industry should provide more opportunities for
these artists to thrive. More support for emerging talent and a fairer distribution of revenue would make a huge difference in helping artists sustain their careers and 
continue creating.
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
ABZY: Right now, I’m focusing on promoting my debut album Hollow Bloom and expanding my fan base.
I’m also working on new music for the upcoming year—there are definitely some exciting projects in the works! I’m constantly experimenting with new sounds and ideas, and I can’t wait to share what’s coming next. Along with that, I’m looking to perform more live shows and hopefully tour in the near future. There’s a lot of energy and excitement around the next chapter, and I’m really looking forward to what’s to come!
