PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
72L: Psychotic and Melodic all in one brutal package.
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
72L: We are from Cleveland Ohio, we started 72 Legions October of 2022, and have released two EP’s. Now we are starting to get ready for touring.
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
72L: Everyone in 72 Legions pulls their influences from the full spectrum of Metal. Metallica, cattle decapitation, body snatcher, disgorge and other extremes of metal. Song writing is about the moment, so every song will vary in theme and intent.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
72L: To play on the biggest stages possible, infront of the biggest crowds possible, to be on a killer label like Nuclear Blast, to make records and move people, and to pay the bills.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
72L: The new EP, What A God Could Be. It is an amazing collaboration between all the band members of 72 Legions, and we wrote it and recorded it very fast. It felt real good making this EP.
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new
artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
72L: We are not satisfied yet. 72 Legions is working every angle we can to build a fan base and a business around our music. It’s hard work, and it is growing and gain momentum. But there is still a mountain more to do.
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
72L: We have hored a booking agent so 72 Legions can get the right tours, and work smarter. We are on tour right now with Venom Inc, Satan, and Ringworm.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
72L: Download if you pay for it is great. Spotify and streaming is just stealing. It pays the corporate fuxx like Apple and Spotify, leaving the artist with nothing.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
72L: Wolfgang Mozart’s requiem mass.
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
72L: Venues stealing merch money.
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
72L: Touring and touring. We will be back in the studio in 4 weeks to start writing a new full length album
