Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD. What type of artist are you?
WOWS We are a 6 element band, we are defined as a Post Metal / Atmospheric band.
PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.
WOWS. We were born in Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy in 2008 as a rock band and since then we kept evolving in both sound and influences. We still do and we always will.
Since AION came out in 2015 for Argonauta Records we played many gigs around Italy with a lot of amazing bands, we feel part of the underground musical scene and we are really thrilled about this.
PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
WOWS If the music comes out as a mix of Neurosis, Inter Arma and Tool, our backgrounds could be very different. Some of us are into electronic music, others in ambient and noise music, some of us are proper metalhead and others listen to classical music. About non musical influences we are really into visual arts, we got our album cover painted on canvas by Paolo Girardi a great artist we love very much, check him out you won’t regret it.
PD. What are your dreams and goals?
WOWS. Music is not a goal but a mission. We just want to express ourselves in the most satisfying way possible and make people enjoy our music and our live shows. We want people to leave the gigs with something more than before.
PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?
WOWS. We all together write all the songs. Lyrics are about sensations, poetic images whirling around the infinity of time and post apocalyptic scenarios.
PD. How do you promote your band and shows?
WOWS. We promote it organizing gigs for us and for the bands we like, as well as make some good videos of us playing gigs and songs videoclips.
PD. What do you think about downloading music online?
WOWS. We acknowledge that and we accept it.
PD. What’s your outlook on the record industry today?
WOWS. There are some really good guys that have so much passion for it, we are happy to be part of our label, we feel like a big family.
PD, What song do you wish you’d written and why?
WOWS. Finland by Cult of Luna, is one of the gretest songs ever written in human history.
PD. What are some of your pet peeves?
WOWS. We are obsessive about visual presentation of shows and the delivery of our music to the audience. We also are pretty much maniacs in writing songs, we think songs are the most important thing of everything we do.
PD. What is your proudest moment in music?
WOWS. Meeting people we have never seen before just tripping heavily on our music. One of the things that pleased us the most was being told that our gigs are like meditation sessions or ancestral rituals. Also some guys told us about our gigs that they were completely absorbed by the flow of music and felt like there’s no reality anymore. That fills up our hearts and keeps us moving forward.
PD. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
WOWS. Well we’re playing in Circolo La Mesa, Italy with our friends and amazing artists Sunpocrisy. It will surely be a great night !
Band location – Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy.
