Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
W: We mainly play 80’s heavy metal but we are also trying to find our own elements to establish in our music.
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
W: We are from Greece, Athens. Everyone in the band got involved with music in a young age and so we came together as a band, firstly with Tolis, Panos, Kyros and William. Panos contributed to the song writing along with Tolis, as where William write additional lyrics. After many lineup changes, we entered the studio and the result is our brand new EP named Wildfire!
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
W: Mainly our songs, more specifically in our Ep, talk about things that we hope to come, except for Heart Offender, which talks about a man who always though love is not real till he met a girl who broke his heart.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
W: We would to continue play for ourselves mainly, which we love doing as a hobby and then for the audience so they can enjoy it with us!
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
W: I think that we finally released our songs!!!
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
W: I think everything is possible today more than ever. If you have time and thirst for knowledge, you can do everything and only the sky is the limit. Promoting is a salt wound to every band, since everyone in the music industry is trying to make money out of musicians!!!
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
W: Mainly by talking to people who are associated/ play with more famous bands and artists. Also we speak with local venues and clubs, to check for availability. The promotion lies solely on us and the venue/club. We are currently speaking for appearances by the end of November and then for early 2022. No finalized dates sadly!!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
W: Sites for musicians like Spotify and Bandcamp, are the backbone of what we call digital music nowadays. We have our music there and are grateful for such tools. The download has been around for decades, so it’s a necessary evil of some sort!
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
W: We wish we have written Operation Mindcrime!!!This release is maybe one of the best metal records ever created, though it covers many grounds of musicality!
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
W: I think the profit that many promoting companies make and how ridiculous it is to give some bands, who deserve it of course, a fighting chance to be heard worldwide! I think there could a worldwide organization for it, to stop many people exploiting so many bands!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
W: We are building a nice big setlist with our tracks, some covers inevitably, and the next is to layout a bunch of ideas we had during 2020 and 2021, and start making some more music and of course performing it live!!!
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
W: Of course from our facebook/twitter/Instagram page! You can buy music for now from our bandcamp page and we hope soon we open our merchandise stuff and make it available to everyone who wants our music and want to support us!!!
