Wasting Time – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
WT: We’re a pop-punk quartet from Toronto, Canada, who loves to have a good time at the expense of others (just kidding…not really!).
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
WT: Lead vocalist/guitarist, Vlad started the band in the late 2000s with a different lineup, which disbanded in 2009. After taking a break from music, Vlad restarted the band in 2017 with a batch of new songs and new members: Mike on bass, Mark on lead guitar and Mikey on drums.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
WT: Alkaline Trio, Green Day, Blink-182, Strung Out, The Beatles and Vlad’s mommy (because she cheated Cash Converters out of their finest guitar many moons ago).
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
WT: We want to take over the world, play shows everywhere on every continent, tour with our favourite bands and show people that punk rock is not dead and that it’s coming back with a vengeance!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
WT: Vlad comes up with the general song ideas, harasses the rest of the band on his phone with his demos and then the full band works on the final arrangements together at band practice.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
WT: Word of mouth and through social media. We try to maintain to a personal, one-on-one connection with other bands that we respect and any kind person out there supporting our music. We feel that this is more efficient than strictly making general posts.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
WT: Overall, it’s great! It provides easier access and exposure for lesser known bands and we believe that people who really appreciate music are ultimately willing to make the effort to support the artists they love.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
WT: Green Day’s When I Come Around. It’s a song that we’ve grown up with that has perfect lyrics and melody. The live performance of it at Woodstock 94 is fantastic and we hope to have a huge moment like that on stage one day.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
WT: When people ask for our set time and then end up arriving late anyways, when people talk about how great Trap music is and being exposed to any music with too much autotune in the vocals.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
WT: One of Vlad’s previous bands, Famous Monsters opened for Misfits years ago, which was a thrill for him. As for this band, we were thrilled to have opened for Smoking Popes last spring for their first Toronto show in years!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
WT: We’re releasing a new single, “My Limited French” on July 24th on all major streaming services. A video will follow shortly thereafter and a full album in the fall. We’ve been working away in the studio with Steve Rizun for the first time, and we believe we’re making our best sounding work to date. In the meantime, you can check out our most recent single, “Only You”.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
WT: All of our music can be found on the major streaming sites such as Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, etc. Physical copies can currently be purchased thru direct messaging to any of our social media sites:
