Vestal Claret – Interview
Interview with Simon Tuozzoli (Guitars, Bass, Organ, Percussion, Vocals, Various Instruments) of Vestal Claret and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
ST: We are musicians. While we dabble in writing, photography, design and illustration.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
ST: We started off writing and recording occult metal music in 2006. Every few years we get together and make a new album.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
ST: Phil our singer is very knowledgeable of many different underground artists and genres. He is also influenced by horror movies as well. He has seen and can speak for countless titles. I am influenced by Custer La Rue and Sweet Pie. I am more mainstream in my tastes as I like Conan The Barbarian, Flash Gordon and the Big Lebowski.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
ST: I just want my music to be found by people who get it, and those people can share it with people that might be offended by it.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
ST: I write the music. Phil writes the lyrics. The songs on this record are filled with isolation and recluse, and the end of times. In the past, our songs have been mostly Satanic Panic.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
ST: We are a recording project. We rely mostly on word of mouth and reviews.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
ST: I’m quite used to it now. It seems the way the river will flow, so why fight it?
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
ST: Happy Birthday To You. So I can get paid every time someone sings it.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
ST: When people poke me to get my attention. Most shallow music.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
ST: A review from our last record. The reviewer sounded like he understood why I do what I do.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
ST: I lost my job and my living situation due to the pandemic. So besides releasing this record, it’s all job hunting for a better future.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
ST: All of our music is @ https://thecultofvestalclaret.bandcamp.com/ and most of it is the cost of donations starting at $0.00
