Formed from the ashes of the much loved groove metal outfit Hang The Bastard, London three piece URNE (pronounced “Urn”) are to set to release one of the most impressive metal EP’s of 2018. Having played together for many years, including in Hang The Bastard, as well as progressive metal outfit Chapters, bassist / vocalist Joe Nally and guitarist Angus Neyra were keen to continue working together after Hang The Bastard called it a day, and thus URNE rose from the ashes. Add to the mix the talented drum skills of Richard Wiltshire and from their base in South London, their debut EP, The Mountain of Gold has been expertly crafted.

The Mountain of Gold has been produced and mastered by none other than longtime friend of the band, Josh Middleton of Architects and Sylosis. The drums for the EP have also been engineered by Craig Reynolds of Stray From The Path, adding some superstar power behind the scenes to what was already an EP designed to pummel the senses and delight metal fans in equal measure.

The first single from the EP is the heavy hitting “Dust Atlas”, which serves as a perfect introduction to what URNE are all about. The video for Dust Atlas can be enjoyed below:

For more on Dust Atlas, here’s URNE’s singer and bassist Joe Nally:

“‘Dust Atlas’ was the first track written for our upcoming EP ‘The Mountain Of Gold’ and also the opener to that EP. We feel this song captures a lot of different elements of what URNE is about. We’ve always been passionate about heavy metal but also so many other genres & influences, we feel these are prominent on this track & throughout the EP. We’re really pleased to be getting our music out & playing this material in a live environment.”

While on the subject of URNE’s first music video, Joe had this to say:

“We wanted the video to Dust Atlas to match the track in energy and feel. Shooting with Adrian Cecil in a dark dingy basement in Croydon, we feel he’s done a great job capturing the vibe of the track.”

Two months after they announced themselves to the world with their debut single Dust Atlas, London metal trio URNE have unleashed their first EP, The Mountain Of Gold. The EP has been met with widespread critical and fan acclaim, with many reviews noting that while some may listen due to the connections to Joe and Angus’ old band Hang The Bastard, URNE are an altogether different musical animal.

With support across the UK, including from Metal Hammer, Kerrang, The Radio One Rock Show, Distorted Sound and Echoes And Dust just to name a few, The Mountain Of Gold is proving a hit with almost everyone that hears it. For the uninitiated, here’s the video for Dust Atlas, the track that started it all off:

Continuing to make waves throughout what has already been a fantastic Summer of 2018 for the band, London metal trio URNE have released the video for their second single, The Lady & The Devil. Following on from the bold impact of their first single Dust Atlas, The Lady & The Devil shows the slightly more progressive side of URNE’s music, whilst still being very much a metal song at heart.
For the video for The Lady & The Devil, first released through Metal Hammer last week, URNE wanted to play homage to some of the guilty pleasure horror films of the past. With some very traditional horror story style imagery, culminating in an appearance from Satan himself, The video for The Lady & The Devil was shot by URNE’s own guitarist Angus Neyra in his video directing debut.
