TV Coma – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?
TV COMA: TV COMA are a red hot band with moist skin. They are ready steady boys, so ready for anything you might throw at them. Whether it’s international fame, immeasurable praise or hard and sharp objects (like bricks and knives), these cool cats are on the precipice of the edge, which is like right at the end of that thing that we’re on. We’re just on the side of that thing but if we were any closer to the edge, we’d be on the side and then maybe we could climb back up to the edge, but it would take a lot of upper body strength, which none of us have because we don’t regularly exercise. Jamie once did a bit of bouldering. He enjoyed it, he did enjoy it – but he couldn’t afford to go again. So, needless to say, he hasn’t been back. Yeah, I think. Yeah. Just to bring it all back round, like a circle. Imagine a circle. You start at one point and you’ve realised that you’ve ended back in the same point that you started. That might be where we are right now. Rock.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
TV COMA: TV COMA began in a man hole. It was only in the man hole where we felt whole, man. Now we are lost in the old big world, writing slick beats for no one to listen to cos no one’s replying to our emails.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
TV COMA: Anthony Bourdain, Michel Roux Jr, Michael Caines, Marcus Wareing, Nigella, Tom Kerridge, Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, Delia Smith, Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, James Beard, Eric Ripert, Paul Bocuse, Wolfgang Puck, Gary Rhodes, Monica Galetti, Michel Roux Jr. Is that enough chefs for you!!?

PD: What are your dreams and goals?
TV COMA: We are already the pioneers of hot slick wet rock sex music (h.s.w.r.s.m.) One day we’d like to branch out into soft porn and underground fight clubs, but not until we’ve moved out of our parents houses.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
TV COMA: We all write the songs together as friends. We are dealing with our anxiety issues by drinking heavily and just going out there and doing it, man. We also strongly support veganism and Max is an actual real vegan because he loves cuddling fluffy animals so hard until no one can breathe anymore. So to bring it all back around, right back to the start of this answer, to the front of this bit, here we are at the back and what have learned is that our songs are all about drinking heavily and cuddling animals. Right.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
TV COMA: We promote through the medium of transcendental meditation. We expect everyone to hear our music through the vibes we give off and the resonances that exude from beneath our skin. That is what we expect and if people don’t get it then that be exactly what they want us to be.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
TV COMA: We think that downloading music online is a great way to illegally get lots of music for free! So if you want to be a criminal and download music illegally, that is the way to do it!

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
TV COMA: I wish we wrote Shut Up by Simple Plan, because that is such a great song and people don’t understand the cultural impact that song had on me.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
TV COMA: Band associate Rowan doesn’t like it when you have some blu tak and you’re holding it so you can make it warm and nice so it can go nicely into the shapes you like, but when you take some bits off, sometimes you put them down and sometimes they get in the carpet and you get them all stuck in by rolling on them with the chair you’re sitting on while you’re making warm blue shapes.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
TV COMA: Jamie is very proud that he now likes Coldplay’s Kid A. He likes the tingly bits. Leo once managed to harmonise with a train (in his mind, while on a bus). Max is grade 8 piano. Jamie is also proud of the fact that he recorded the drums on Rumours by Fleetwood Mac and also wrote all the songs. Leo is proud that he also did that.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
TV COMA: Max is putting the things on the shelves in the shop and asking the people if they want the loyalty card and if they want the bag with that. Leo is answering the phone and having the people shout down the phone about prams. Jamie is putting the things in the boxes one day a week and he’s really pleased with his wages so he’s going to buy an antique book with all of the money he makes.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
TV COMA: We are doing a full epic musical for our upcoming album and we will all be dancing and it’s gonna be so sick you will love it.
