Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
TC: Turn Cold is a metal band.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
TC: We all used to play in another band together and started writing songs during the covid pandemic to fight the boredom and try to create something.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
TC: Slayer, Cro-Mags, Overkill, Kreator, etc. The fast stuff! Non-musical influences would be this insane era we currently exist in.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
TC: To play live for as many folks as we can. I’d be very satisfied if people enjoyed our music as much as I enjoy my favorite artists.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
TC: I (Brett) write all the music and our vocalist Stenvik handles the lyrics. There’s recurring themes of isolation and of course your average American day to day hopelessness.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
TC: Social media is the primary way these days for a band to get in front of people. We’re oldschool though, so we beat the street with good old fashioned flyers too. Plastering boarded up buildings is a good way to advertise.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
TC: I have a bandcamp account and buy a lot of albums online. Every band i’ve been in always has music available for download.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
TC: Heading Out to the Highway by Judas Priest. It’s an amazing rock n roll song. The dual guitar lead in the middle isn’t anything very technical, but it gives me goosebumps every time.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
TC: About being in a band? Playing with bands that are dicks def tops the list. Especially if it’s a band I like and they turn out to be shit people. Always a bummer!
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
TC: I haven’t accomplished much if I’m being honest, but every live gig where people are into it, moving in the crowd, making noise and throwing shit is when I’m at my proudest.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
TC: A 3 song EP called “Break Your Faith.” Due out in September.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from
TC: Break Your Faith will be available on all major streaming platforms and available for purchase on Bandcamp,
