The Edit
the edit are a london based four-piece, writing and performing their own take on hard rock; infused with both powerful riffs and a musical heritage that can be traced through led zeppelin via metallica, foo fighters, qotsa to more radio friendly staples such as the red hot chilli peppers and the black keys.
formed over a nod and wink in late 2012, the band spent their first year holed up writing and rehearsing over 35 songs for their debut album with 10 soon-to-be rock staples making the final cut for ‘tales of pistachio dave’, recorded at the famous london recording studios on brick lane. the band have an independent approach; they do all the writing, arranging, performing and producing themselves and all releases are through the band’s own record label, monkey post records.
with instrumentation and song structure as important as vocal melodies the edit have dan pearson on bass, matt turner on drums, with nigel rees and steve edge on guitar duties. dan and nige share the lead vocal work with matt lending ample support on backing vocals. as dan says of the first time the edit picked up their instruments collectively: “the song ‘two’ from the album has a very classic rock feel and it was also the song we jammed on when we shared a basement practice room in south london for the first time – as soon as we started playing it we just hit it off and both the track, and the embyronic band seemed to click straight away.”
