“Spacetrucker takes us on a smooth orbit around the fuzzosphere of rawk n roll with immense groove, catchy hooks, thick riffs and gritty vocals that pull you in with gravitational force like a shag upholstered stoner van flying at ludicrous speed..” — Bucky Brown; Doom Charts/The Ripple Effect
Preparing to deliver on the promise of their 2018 album Smooth Orbit, heavy cosmic trio Spacetrucker has signed with US purveyors of riff-heaviness, Ripple Music, to bring the band’s latest mesmerizing slab of space riffing to the world.
Spacetrucker creates a no-messing-around sound that mixes classic rock riff kings like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple with their love of stoner rock giants like Kyuss, Sleep, and Fu Manchu, plus a healthy dose of riffy grunge such as the Melvins and TAD. Spacetrucker released their first EP “Launch Sequence” in October 2016, followed by their 50 minute juggernaut “Smooth Orbit” in August 2018. “Smooth Orbit” saw the band making huge strides in songwriting dynamics and textures– chock full of thundering drums, abrasively fuzzy guitar, driving ballsy bass, and smooth melodic vocals. About the album, Riff Mountain hails, “…powered by fuzz laden riffs and killer amounts of groove and swagger and just the right amount of attitude.”
Now it’s time for the next step. Signing to Ripple Music, the band keeps its power trio lineup Spacetrucker will contribute a 12″ side of vinyl for the new Ripple Music Split LP Series, “Turn to Stone” where they share vinyl with Italian psych rockers Mr Bison.
About the new project, the band says, “Ripple had asked us to join the family just after the release of our last full-length, at a time when we were only kicking around a few ideas for future songs. We really put a lot of time and energy into these three new tracks to have them acutely organized and executed for the studio only a few months later. This new material ranges from our most aggressive to most experimental to date; lyrically it’s very political in light of this incendiary time in the U.S. and musically, in addition to the fuzz riffage you might expect from Spacetrucker, we’ve incorporated spacey instrumental action with digital sounds and more technical drumming. We bared our punk rock teeth all in 17 minutes. We’re really pleased to be on the first of a series that is sure to be killer, as you’d expect nothing less from a label like Ripple.”
Look for “Turn to Stone” the new split series to hit the streets early late 2019/early 2020.
