Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
SR: We are a dynamic duo.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
SR: We are long term collaborators over a number of other projects. This is our first full project operating on our own.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
SR: In no particular order; NIN; Metallica; A Perfect Circle; incubus; Pink Floyd; RATM; Albert Camus and James Hetfield.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
SR: Making the music is the dream. Making it pay without compromising it is the goal.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
SR: Strictly speaking we divide the writing process into melodic and rhythmic input. That said, we both actively shape the overall production and outcome.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
SR: Covid has prohibited this, sadly.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
SR: Fantastic. Now please pay us our fair share from steaming.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
SR: You’ll get a wildly different answer from both of us. It also depends on mood. I have a distinct weak spot for Pink Floyd “Comfortably Numb”. It’s a chilling piece of music. (JD)
I’d say “Bohemian Rhapsody”. I’m not a massive Queen fan but that song is an absolute master piece. When you bear in mind the studio technology back then it’s a really impressive and ground breaking track. (Rick)
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
People who say pacifically when they mean specifically. That, and running out of milk in the morning. First world problems.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
SR: Completing our album Nonunion. It was a ridiculous amount of work.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
SR: We’re putting the polish on the mixes; looking to record a cover and recording some cool cut down versions of our album tracks. Busy.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
SR: We have recently signed a distribution deal with Identity music and will be globally distributing the album and singles with them. For a limited time, our launch track The Ground Beneath Our Feet and a couple of other sneaky tracks are available to stream and purchase at: www.sonarred.com
