Solar Parachute – Interview
Interview with Gaet Allard of Solar Parachute and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
GA: I am a musician/composer/song writer.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
GA: From Nantes, France. I’ve played music professionally since I was fifteen and really developed my career when I lived in Paris. I’ve been London based for a year and I’m lucky enough to play around Europe and the world.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
GA: Musical: So many…The Who, Let Zepplin, The Police, Santana, Miles Davis, Nirvana, Foo fighters, JackWhite, Keziah Jones, Bloc Party, Blood Red Shoes, Royal Blood, The Bad plus, Bjork, Jhon Coltrane, Jeff Buckley, Muse, Rage against the Machine, Archive, The cinematic Orchetra, Jagga Jazzist, Tame Impala, Jacob Collier, Louis Cole….
Non-musical: My wife, all my friends and family, Deepak Chopra, Jim Carey, Rafael Nadal, my first teacher, my Grand dad.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
GA: I want to keep playing music until I die. Sharing joy and good energy with people through music and if possible, make the world just a bit more peaceful with it, that would make me happy.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
GA: I do. They’re mostly life experience based and crazy poetry. I like to look at everyday situations but with a funny angle. Everything could be funny or sad depending how you see it. It’s a matter of perspective. Daily life is full of inspiring stuff, even in quarantine.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
GA: We use social media and word of mouth.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
GA: I am ok with this – it’s part of the new rules. But, nothing will replace the live show experience.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
GA: Smells like teen spirit by NIRVANA. I grew up in the 90s with grunge on the radio and it’s such an iconic song from my generation. So simple and so perfect. I am also a huge fan of Dave Grohl on the drums.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
GA: I can’t remember, it’s been too long without seeing people J. I am pretty chill in general, though.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
GA: I had the opportunity to play in the “Zenith” of Nantes which is the biggest concert hall of my home town. I was sharing the stage with good friends and my family was in the audience. A great moment in my musical career.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
GA: I am currently working on my next album, it’s almost ready. It should be out before autumn. In the meantime, since the lockdown started I’ve been releasing short songs on social media every week. They’re 1-minute creations where I play every instrument and sing.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
