Side Project released their brand new single “It’s Not A Title, It’s A Label” which if off their upcoming album due out in August.
Side Project are a Pop Punk from Leicester. Since its inception, Side Project have made it their goal to create music with a hook, with big chorus’ and strong melodies, the band has crafted a sound that resonates with their ever-growing fan base. Just as importantly, the band believes in their sound and truly enjoys the songs that they write.
“it’s important for us to write songs that we will still want to play 10 years from now”
The band in its current format grew traction in 2018 with a stellar cover of Anne-Marie’s hit single ‘2002’ and since then have been hard at work writing new music that was initially penned for an EP, however it later grew into an album that is due out in August 2021
Since making their live debut with a sold out headline show in Leicester midway through 2019, the band kicked on and were due to head out on their first UK tour until the pandemic out a stop to all shows. Side Project are now gearing up in preparation to tour once things go back to normal and promise a great performance wherever they play
During the first lockdown, Side Project worked on several songs for the album one of which is the single ‘It’s Not A Title, It’s A Label’. The song started out in Alex’s (drummer) home rehearsal space prior to the pandemic and really kicked on once the band started writing from home. The song follows Lead Singer Ben’s desire to write lyrics from the perspective of a fictional character, the idea is that each song can resonate with the listener and create a feeling of ‘when times are tough, you are not alone’
The music behind the song saw the band take influence from faster paced Pop Punk bands, this allowed the band to deliver a song that was energetic and chaotic in places whilst still keeping the anthem style chorus’ that the band has become known for.
