Shattered – Interview

Interview with Tom Pettry of Shattered and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

TP: Hello, my name is Tony Pettry and im a Heavy Metal guitarist for the band Shattered.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

TP: I started playing guitar when I was thirteen so that would make it thirty years now. Im originally from Cleveland, Ohio where I had the pleasure to open for Mushroomhead on their very first show at the Cleveland Agora. I was part of the Cleveland Mosh Team also. After moving to Florida I started the Tampa Bay Mosh Team along with Mosh Team Mayhem radio show. Im a founder of Shattered also.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

TP: That would be King Diamond for sure along with Iron Maiden, Kiss, and Danzig.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

TP: I would love to make a living performing all around the world but if I can just entertain people I would be satisfied.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

TP: In the past I wrote a lot of the guitar riffs but now I’m finally getting feedback from members and we put the songs together as fit. Vocals our singer Fred is the man.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

TP: I do a lot of social media and footwork such as making flyers and posters.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

TP: I think downloading music online is ok as long your doing it legally and not ripping off an artist.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

TP: I wish that I would have written the song “The Lake” by King Diamond. The melody and storyline of that song really connects with me as an artist.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

TP: Musicians trash talking each other is worst thing I’ve been seeing . I just think everyone needs to stop the nonsense.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

TP: One of my proudest moments is when my band Shattered was the opening band for Nile and Overkill. We ended up getting an encore which is rare for an opener.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

TP: We are working on our new album called Skinwalker and planning a tour soon.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

TP: Our next show is March 22nd at the Brass Mug which we are headlining. We will be debuting asome new material and we upgraded our props to improve the Shattered stage experience.
