Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
OV: We are a Pop Punk/ Easycore band from Australia.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
OV: We met in high school, starting out with just 2 of us writing songs for fun. We soon recruited some more of our friends and it’s now a full live band!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
OV: Our influences are extremely broad, which we think shows in our music. Everything from blink-182 to Avenged Sevenfold to the Pokemon game soundtracks have all played a part in how we write our songs.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
OV: To make a difference, and relate to as many people as we can. We want to be the absolute best musical group we can be, and we have the motivation to do that. Our main goal right now is to get signed to a record label.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
OV: We write all of our songs ourselves. Usually either Maki or James will write a pretty much complete song, and we will come together as a group and brainstorm ideas on how to make it sound as good as possible.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
OV: Online, and through merchandise. We have been trying to be more active on social media, posting more content and hoping it will interest a few people. We also post links to our music on blogs and pitch songs to as many radio stations and playlist editors as we can.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
OV: It’s a great way to get more music out there and have more people hear it. Unfortunately due to the rise of streaming services, bands cannot expect to make much money from sales anymore. That is fine though; we now have a small merch line and make most of our money from that and playing live shows.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
OV: Bohemian Rhapsody; because everyone knows it.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
OV: Bands that play out of time, out of tune instruments, those socks that fall down a little bit when you walk around and end up inside your shoe somehow? (you know the ones)
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
OV: There isn’t one particular moment we are most proud of. We are proud of the music we write and the scene we have helped create locally.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
OV: We are focusing on improving our live performance while we continue to write a second EP, which is being produced in Germany; set for release March 2021.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
OV: We have a single and a 3 song EP available on streaming services for free! Here is a link to a couple of them (plus our socials) https://linktr.ee/offsetvision
