Nehoda – Interview
Interview with Patrick Nehoda (guitar & voc) of Nehoda and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
PH: We are a Rock and Roll band with roots in Blues, Folk, and Grunge.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
PH: We have been playing together as a band for over 18 months now. Focussing the majority of that time toward Live shows. Which allowed us to record the album in a live format. We have played over 50 shows in the past year!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
PH: My musical influences are Bob Dylan, Kurt Cobain, David Gilmour, Marty Robbins, Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins, Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop from Travis, and almost anything Rock and Roll. My non musical influences are My Uncle Bob Jones, my mother Diane Nehoda, my 4th grade teacher Mrs. Hagenlocher, and many others that have helped raise me to be who I am today.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
PH: Our dreams as a band are to get back on the road with a proper National Tour here in the United States as well as an international Tour of all of Europe.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
PH: Patrick writes the songs mostly, but lately we have been working on them in more of a collaborative way.
The songs are typically written about Life. Some are happy, some are sad, all are genuine.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
PH: We mainly promote Nehoda via social media as well as on our website www.nehodamusic.com
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
PH: I would rather people downloaded our music for free from Bandcamp in a wav file that allows them to hear the work that went into it rather than streaming it in a shitty mp3 format via spotify.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
PH: Mayonnaise by Smashing Pumpkins. There is something about this song from the intro to the last ringing notes of feedback that just take over me every time I hear it. This song means a lot to me for many personal reasons. Thank you Billy!
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
PH: Chewing with your mouth open, incessant throat clearing, thin guitar tone, and not tuning your instrument.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
PH: My proudest moment so far is having Devil’s Bitch win an award for best track of 2016 and for being up for best track of the teens on an Fm station in Gloucester U.K. This was what got us invited to England to play three years ago. This summer would have been our third tour over there had it not been for the virus.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
PH: I am working on some multiple projects. I am working on putting together all my old folk songs, a project of ambient post rock, and working on our new songs for the second Nehoda album. We are about half way there on the new song structures.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
PH: Our music is available on Bandcamp right here…. https://nehoda.bandcamp.com
Our next single Shakey Pop will be out August 28th and the full album will release on October 2nd! You can find us on all the streaming platforms as well. But the full album will not be available on Spotify because…fuck those guys.
