Nasty Nesto and the Sadbois – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

NNatS: Independent, multi-genre, sadboi.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

NNatS: Funded by pals Ernesto Fernandez, Kieran Orr and Kit Smith in 2019 and re-emerging after the pandemic with Drew Cox as our drummer. Through our short time as a band we have concentrated on songwriting and performance, having played inner-city festivals such as King Tut’s New Year Revolution in 2019 and various headline and support national shows, Nasty Nesto and The Sadbois is now ready to take their sound outside of Scotland to coincide with the launch of our debut album ‘Horse’s Severed Head’.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

NNatS: The Velvet Underground – The Libertines – Courtney Barnett – Modest Mouse

Non-musically: The sesh, loss and kissing my homie good night.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

NNatS: All jokes aside and with all due respect – to find a sugar-daddy that will fund our next album.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

NNatS: Ernesto Fernandez and Kieran Orr write most of the lyrics on our up-coming album ‘Horse’s Severed Head’. They are mostly about loss and connection.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

NNatS: Social Media, Word of Mouth, Posters, Gigs and such. We are very self-managed.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

NNatS: If people get to listen to the music that is good with us

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

NNatS: Hey by Pixies – ‘It’s the sound that a mother makes when the baby breaks’

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

NNatS: Fewer opportunities for working-class and up-n-coming bands.

NNatS: The [sesh] struggle.

Pay to play gigs.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

NNatS: Our up-n-coming album was a really good experience to record, top notch work from Hamish Campbell from Sound Sound Studios. We are very very excited for people to hear it and finally have some sounds on the cloud. 24th of August!!!

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

NNatS: We are currently in the writing process of a shared E.P with Alix Apples and The Core.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

NNatS: Best Friend will be our debut single on Spotify and all major platforms .

You can find demos on Bandcamp and Soundcloud we upload regularly for human consumption.
