Myosotis – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

M: We – Myosotis – are a six headed Modern-Metalcore Band from Hamburg Germany.

Timo Hazerli – Vocals
Kilian Harrsen – Vocals
Max Mäder – Guitar
Calvin Rösicke – Guitar
Julian Seiler – Drums
Thomas Grigo – Bass

Musically, we would describe our style as a combination of aggressive and technical verses with pop and melodical chorus. We try to combine different genres and have influences of classically Metalcore and Hardcore as well as Jazz, Progressive and Djent rhythms.

Our name – Myosotis – is the botanical name for the flower “Forget-me-not” and we use the meaning of love, trust and farewell as our message we want to broadcast to our listeners.

With the slogan \\WeAreMyosotis// we want to create a community for our listeners where they feel safe and secure. Many people suffer in silence and have to bear with everyday problems and mental illness. For those people we want to be a shelter and want to encourage them to face the issues and to show them that they are not alone getting through their struggle.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

M: We have been found in 2017. Kilian set up an announcement in a local blog for musicians and all of us reacted on it. Actually we all come from different parts in Germany but finally met in the beautiful city of Hamburg. Within 2017, not even 6 months after we met first, we already released our first EP called “Distance” and directly played shows with bands like First Blood or Wolf Down.

In 2018 our second EP “Evosia” followed quickly and we did some touring through Europe.

After that we took some time wo let our music and the concept around Myosotis grow.

We looked for some new partners, who could  bring our music to a new level. So we got in touch with Christop Wieczorek from Sawdust Recordings, who did a great job on some new songs we are about to release. The next single called “What If…” will be released through Blood Blast Distribution on 17/07/2020.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

M: Our influences have definitely a wide range no matter, if musically or non-musically.

We are the most inspired by having the chance spreading our vision and our songs, to be able to create something that lasts and remains.

Our Songs are strongly influenced by the time and the mood we have for a certain period.

We do not try to keep the same style or genre for each song or for each EP. If something crosses our way we use it to expand our range and our minds.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

M: Basically we want to share the idea of Myosotis with as many people as possible. Of course it would be great to fulfil some dreams, for example playing a tour in Japan but we are aware that this won`t be easy to achieve. Nevertheless we will keep on spreading our music since this is our passion and what we love to do.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

M: The main ideas are given by Max. Usually he already has a vision of a Song and has the rough structure ready when we hear it first. The rest of us is in charge to give him the final touch and the Myosotis flair, with the small nuances every one of us tributes to the songs.

The main Lyrics are written by Timo in close cooperation with Max as well.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

M: We use different social media platforms. Our mains are Instagram and Facebook but we also use Twitter and have some plans to release more content on YouTube. Another quite new thing is our profile on Bandbond. This is an App especially for heavy music which is not using any filters or algorhythms and it includes all our different social media profiles of any platform as well as the personal accounts of the members. It also contains a touring calendar and other functions will follow. It`s a good thing to stay up to date with us!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

M: For us the age of online music and streaming is a chance to be heard easily. That is something we are very grateful for. You can learn so many things by yourself online which are necessary in this business. Starting by recording and mixing over editing videos and photos as well as creating and selling merchandise.

Additionally we want that the people can hear our music for free if they want to.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

M: In this case we can not name a particular song.

There are many songs which you hear and you just think “damn, the riff is lit or the vocal line just hits” but in this moments you get inspiration for new ideas and this keeps you motivated to work on new songs and to try out new stuff.

Being jealous of something others created will not help you to improve, in our opinion.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

M: This can be answered very easily. It`s ignorance and intolerance.

Unfortunately you get confronted with these topics very often in the music business.

If there are bands who exclude other musicians because of the genre they play or even fans who exclude bands for the music they are creating. We do not believe or think in genres. Therefore we try to mix the bands we play with live, especially on our release shows we organize on our own.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

M: There are some! One of our favourite moments has been our support slot for a show with the monstrous guys from Meshuggah. It was a special show for us since they influenced us in the times we started learning our instruments and to share the stage with an idol is something very incomparable.

But in general we always worship every goal we achieve on our way together.

Each Video, each new recorded song, our deal with Blood Blast Distribution and more.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

M: As mentioned earlier we used the time after our second EP Evosia has been released to grow and to work on the outer appearance of Myosotis. Besides our new Single “What If..”, which will be released on 17/07/2020, we have more stuff to come. It is definitely worth to follow our social media channels to stay up to date !

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

M: Our music is online on all common streaming platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer and more.

For the time being we only sell merch live but this will change within short since we just finished working on some new distribution channels for our merchandise.

In a couple of weeks will an announcement follow with all the details.
