Major Moment – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: Please tell us about the band?
MM: Hey Pete! Thank you for having us!
Major Moment is a multi-cultural rock band based in Boston, MA, with its members hauling from different states, and even countries. Our mission is to inspire others to pursue their dreams, and never give up.
PD: Tell us the brief history of Major Moment.
MM: We’re a relatively young band, been releasing music for just under two years. However, all of us have different stories about the paths that led us to where we are now. Sasha was a professional tennis player, ranking in top 600 in the world. Andrey has built and developed businesses in the past… If you want to know more, feel free to join us during one of our live-streams, we are happy to share our stories.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
MM: There’s a lot of people that influenced each and every one of us personally, it would be unfair to generalize, but I think, musically, we can say that bands like Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon, Cold, Keane, Poets of the Fall have been the biggest inspirations so far.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
MM: To be completely honest, I don’t think we see dreams as we used to at this point. As a person who was born and raised in suburban Russia, and now gets to share the stage with bands I’ve only seen on MTV, I know I don’t. My wildest dreams became achievable given some love and hard work. So, at this point, we don’t even have any dreams, it’s just an endless list of tasks to complete. Yes, we want to play a sold-out MSG show, and it will take us some time to headline Lollapalooza, but are these dreams achievable? You better believe it!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
MM: We write our own songs, and they’re about things that make us feel something, whether it’s hope, or hopelessness, love or heartbreak, life and death.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
MM: A word of mouth, and social media ads. A combination of these two.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
MM:We think it was meant to happen, it’s just a normal flow of life and its evolution. Forums, Napster, torrents, iTunes, Spotify… Pointless to fight the progress, you might as well get used to it and make sure you’re up to date.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
MM: The songs we haven’t written just yet. But they’re coming!
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
MM: People being disrespectful and ghosting / not responding to messages or emails, being late.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
MM: We feel proud every time someone says our music touched them, helped them to overcome their darkest times, inspired them to go for what they want. But my personal proudest moment in music was when I actually started making music. There was a lot of fear I had to overcome.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
MM: We have 4 new singles that are ALMOST done (almost famous, haha). They’re our best songs to date. They’ll be released in 2020, one every couple of months, we literally can’t wait for everyone to hear them! We have a behemoth of a music video in the works. Something so stylish Billie Eilish would want to be in it, yet so complicated it seems like we’d need James Cameron to pull it off. We are positive, though, guys at The Revelry Studios have got it!
PD. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
MM: Well, one of our next shows is Providence Rock Day, where we share main stage with Cold. We also have a couple major festival appearances lined up, but unfortunately we can’t disclose them yet due to contractual agreements. All we can say is stay tuned, and make sure you subscribe to us!
