Madzilla – Interview

Madzilla – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

M: Madzilla LV is a Melodic Trash Metal Band.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

M: Madzilla started as a project David Cabezas (Band Leader) had. The Band officially launched in 2018, but the project itself began years earlier, when an unfortunate car accident in 2010, in which David Cabezas lost a great childhood friend, lead to the creation of the band’s earliest single “Judgment Day”, a song dedicated to the final moments of life, and the loss of a loved one.

Having a few songs written, David felt the need to get this ideas and feelings heard, which lead to the creation of the Madzilla LV.

Madzilla LV are David Cabezas (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Daniel Gortaire (Bass/ Background Vocals), David Oliveri (Guitar/Background Vocals), and Robert Wiggin (Drums).
The Band recently toured alongside Max Cavalera’s Metal Legends “Soulfly”, in February 2020.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

M: Madzilla LV delivers a hefty mix of melodic, classic thrash-metal, reminiscent of the likes of Megadeth, Metallica and Iron Maiden.

However, non-musical athletes like Mohamed Ali and Bruce lee are some of our big influences.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

M: One of the things we enjoy most is playing live shows. We love the interaction with fans, it’s the main reason why we do this. Our main goal is to be able to do be on the road as much as possible. Touring is definitely in Madzilla’s future.

And of course, always making new music.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

M: David (Band Leader) has done a fair amount of writing of the currently released tunes, specially since, as mentioned earlier, Madzilla was originally David’s project. However, we try to collaborate as much as possible on the writing process. Every idea is welcome, and everyone brings in their input and style.

Lyrics usually metaphorically describe real life experiences.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

M: A lot of what we do is done through social media, creating consistent media content allowing band to always have something new to share with our fans.

We also use streaming platforms such as Spotify, or Youtube.

Word of mouth tends to be a part of it, specially when we do local shows.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

M: We believe that as long as you support the artist in some way, like go to their shows, or buy some of their merchandise, or even get friends exited about their music, there is no harm in downloading music online.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

M: Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”, because it speaks metal even before you learn the lyrics.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

M: We hate it when people are late, or don’t do things they’ve offered to do.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

M: All 4 of us have pretty decent backgrounds within the music scene, since we all have toured and released music with previous endeavors, so individually it may be a little difficult to choose one. However, as this current Madzilla line up, our proudest moment so far was touring alongside Soulfly this past February! We are very proud of that particular tour.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

M: We are always writing new stuff. The Madzilla Train never really stops. So there will definitely be a few new releases in the not too distant future.

However, we are also working on music videos for the songs on our EP that is currently out.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

M: The “Vengeance” EP is available on Spotify and Apple Music.

We have also released a couple of music videos featuring songs from that EP, which are available on YouTube.
