Luv Dot Gov – Interview

Luv Dot Gov – Interview

PD: What type of artist are you?

LDG: Power-pop / Indie Rock

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

LDG: We formed during the summer of 2016.  We made our 1st album, “At Least We’ve Got This Madness” in the spring of 2017 at Chamber Studio in Edinburgh with the legendary Graeme Young.  After touring the UK and states in 2018, we started writing second album, “The Good Times Are Over” which was to be tracked in Edinburgh again in early 2020.  Then the pandemic hit.  We have since been tracking and arranging the record from New York and Scotland with guest musicians from around the world and are hoping for a late 2020 release.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

LDG: Musical:  Beach Boys, XTC, Superdrag, Fig Dish, Smoking Popes, Bach, Chopin, Belle & Sebastian, Weezer, Guided By Voices, Big Star, The Clean, ELO, Grandaddy, Super Furry Animals.

Non-Musical:  Oscar Wilde, Whisky, and Bojack Horseman.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

LDG: To get out of this pandemic and tour in Europe and UK to support the new album in 2021.

Also, we could use some money.  🙂

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

LDG: I (Matthew Pop) write the words and music.  Typically I will work out the arrangements of everything with Stevie.  He’s got ideas.  The songs are about love, loss, and growing older with strong themes of dealing with depression and anxiety in post-2015 planet Earth.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

LDG: You can find us on Instagram, Facebook, and Bandcamp.  Our music is also available on all streaming platforms.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

LDG: I unfortunately think it has gone the way of the compact disc.  Deadsies.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

LDG: I’m satisfied with what I’ve written.  It comes from deep inside of me and reflects my own personal experiences and perceptions.  Be yourself – Everyone else is already taken.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

LDG: American politics.  Borders.  People who spell the opposite of “win” as “loose”.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

LDG: Performing with LUV DOT GOV at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

LDG: Working on releasing our 2nd album, “The Good Times Are Over” which was tracked around the world during the first half of 2020, from quarantine.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

LDG: All LUV DOT GOV’s music is available on all streaming platforms.  Our 1st run of CDs sold out, but if you’re old school, you can still buy/download a digital copy of the album from our bandcamp.  🙂
