Keep Up – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD. What type of artist are you?
(Ian) We’re a brand new original band bringing a modern twist on alternative punk rock. Releasing debut album “Up In Flames” has set a solid foundation for Keep Up.

PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.
(DJ) It started with playing covers in my parents basement with my high school friends. Now fast forwarding ten years, crossing state lines and playing on stages in front of our biggest fans.

PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
(Chris) I know for me Blink-182 is one of my favorite bands and they drive me to be a better musician. A multi generational band that defined an entire genre.

PD. What are your dreams and goals?
(Ian) I’d like to become successful whether it’s behind the scenes producing music or on stage playing with my friends. Being surrounded by music is my life.

PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?
(Ian) It sounds generic but we collectively write together. Bringing ideas to the table has always been the easiest way to collaborate.

PD. How do you promote your band and shows?
(Chris) Social media and radio is the best way for anyone to reach an audience and it seems to be the median for marketing in today’s technology. Our use of Facebook and Instagram can target better demographics for more listeners to attend shows.

PD. What do you think about downloading music online?
(Dj) Streaming and downloading is the easiest way for this generation to access music. I believe in supporting the band/artist you download from so that’s where merchandise comes in to play.

PD. What song do you wish you’d written and why?
(Ian) Probably Welcome To The Black Parade because my father took me to the city to see a marching band…

PD. What are some of your pet peeves?
(Dj) When the band introduces claps in a song and the audience can’t stay on time or when opening bands leave as soon as they’re done playing without supporting the other bands.

PD. What is your proudest moment in music?
(Chris) Honestly the release of our new album. We put so much time and energy into these songs that it makes me proud when listeners have these songs in their personal playlists.

PD. So what are you working on at the moment?
(Chris) Currently were on tour supporting our album but we’re always working on new music, videos, and shows.

PD. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
(Dj) Funny you asked because we’re in our van now driving to our show tonight in NJ. Following tonight are three more shows to complete the weekend run. The unique part of Keep Up is that we switch instruments on stage. Yes. We switch instruments mid song. Doing this allows us to give the audience an energized performance that they will remember for a lifetime.
