High Tide – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
HT: We are a german retro rock band. Our sound is inspired by old classic rock and blue. We call it retro rock.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
HT: Alexander Kühner (28) wanted to make music since a young age. He was looking for like-minded people, playing in cover bands, until he founded “High Tide” in 2014 with a longtime friend, the music student and guitarist Ben Wormser (25) and the bass player Kevin Pfeiffer (29). In 2020 the organist Giuseppe Celentano (29), and the 30 year old drummer Andi Braun came to the band as new members.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
HT: We are especially inspired by the sound of the 70`s. By the music of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Doors and so on. But there are new artists which inspire us like the Rival Sons.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
HT: We want to play more international shows and playing a UK and a US tour. Of course we dream of making music for a living.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
HT: The songs are mostly written by the singer Alexander and the guitarist Ben. The lyrics are mostly about a self reflection and how we and others perceive ourselves in situations. But as a traditional rockbound we also have lyrics about sex, love and dreams.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
HT: We promote us on the social media channels. Making ads and that kind of stuff on facebook and instagram and on our website.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
HT: It is difficult. And there are different opinions. Of course music is cheaper online. But it is easier to spread your music online into the world. But on spotify, deezer and all the streaming platforms music is only a mass product. People also don’t take their time to listen to a whole LP anymore.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
I wish I would have written Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. I don’t think I need to mention why. Because its the best song ever written on this planet. The increase of the song, paired with the singing of Robert Plant and the guitar playing of Jimmy Page is unbelievable perfect.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
HT: We played on a huge festival with Uriah Heep and Jethro Tull. We are still in contact with the members of Uriah Heep and meet them sometimes if they are in Germany. And last year we played two small tours with Graham Bonnet (Rainbow) and Dare through europe.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
We released our new single „Untameable“ on april 05th. And we are planning to release the LP in July 2020. We are also writing new songs for the next album.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
HT: We have our first album „Against the Current“ and our new single „Untameable“ on every online streaming website. You can also buy our songs on iTunes, amazon music and so on.
