Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (https://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
H: We are a heavy/power metal band.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
H: Harmonize was formed in 2012 by George Constantinou. We started off playing thrash metal, but gradually incorporated some power metal elements, as well as some darker elements commonly found in death metal. We published our first demo ‘The Astonishing End’ in 2014 to great reviews. In 2015 we were featured in the compilation album ‘Powercord Attack’ with our song ‘Tonight’. Since then, Harmonize has shared the stage with local and international bands in their live shows. In 2020, we released our first full-length album, ‘Warrior in the Night’.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
H: Each of the members has distinct musical influences, which is what makes our sound so dynamic. From Amon Amarth and Behemoth to Blind Guardian and Iced Earth, each of us brings something different to the table. Non-musically, the themes of the stories we want to tell are influenced by fantasy literature.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
Our goal is to make music that expresses us and perform in front of people that appreciate that music. Also, Wacken.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
H: All of us have our input as far as songwriting goes. Most song ideas start from guitar riffs, and we build from there, each one of us adding their own touch on our respective instruments.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
H: We mainly share our upcoming shows and behind-the-scenes moments on our facebook and Instagram accounts, facebook.com/harmonizeofficialpage and instagram.com/harmonize_band
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
H: Any legal means to acquire our music is a-OK with us, especially if it makes it easier to listen to us for people abroad.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
H: I would imagine each member would have a different answer to this, but personally (Sozos, Vocals) I wish I had written ‘And Then There Was Silence’ by Blind Guardian. So influential and so epic.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
H: People who trash a band because it doesn’t sound like the music they are used to
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
H: Releasing our debut album Warrior in the Night!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
H: We are working on our next full-length album at the moment. We are at the demo recording phase.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
H: Our most plausible future destination is Greece in 2021. We keep people updated on our social media and our website www.harmonizeofficial.com. People always leave our shows with something, be it the story we tell through our music, our sound or the atmosphere we create on stage. We promise that the crowd always has a great time.
