Hand of Fate – Interview

Hand of Fate – Interview

PD: What type of artist are you?

HOF: We would like to think ourselves as “free” artists! We like to create the sounds that express us, having no boundaries or narrow thoughts.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

HOF: A really interesting story is the way the song “Temptation” was created. It all started from a dream the singer -Alexandra- was having for over a year. The lyrics describe that specific dream.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

HOF: Non musical influences, we would have to say our family background and the way we all grew up in general as well as the city of Thessaloniki and its music culture and of course the hand of Fate! As for the musical ones so many various musical styles and genres. From Pink Floyd to Nightwish, Iron Maiden etc. Rock , pop , classical , reggae, traditional and metal music made us what we are today.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

HOF: Our goal is to express through music in order to translate everything that we have in our souls into tune! Our dream is to pass those thoughts to the audience and hopefully to give them hope and a way so that they can express themselves too.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

HOF: Most of the music and composition is written by John Hatzidimos the lead guitarist and most of the lyrics from Alexandra Anagnostopoulou the lead vocalist. Of course, everyone is contributing with his own personnal way to this process.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

HOF: We promote via social media and we also have our precious PR service, our “Angels” PR. You can find us on YouTube and many streaming platforms as well. We also have CDs and really soon there will be some more merchandise to promote and spread our work.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

HOF: It is an effective way to quickly share your music, as long as it is done legally. The technology is constantly growing and it would be foolish not to use it in order to spread your music around the world.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

HOF: I will speak for myself (Alexandra) and I will say High Hopes from Pink Floyd! The reason is obvious, the music is still so forward, so full of sentiments and the lyrics express truths , worries and deep feeling! It’s unbelievable!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

HOF: I guess that thing before performances where everybody is having his own minor problem, is giving me more stress and the need to please all the rest of the band, and I think it is similar for all five members. But after a while, it soon becomes something like a synchronised heart beat when we hit the stage.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

HOF: The live performance supporting Gus G in Mylos Club Thessaloniki.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

HOF: We are currently working on material for our new album.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

HOF: There are many plans. So far, the one already scheduled is the Ladies of Metal Festival in Thessaloniki, in early 2020. It would be a blast with so many talented voices and musicians!
