Golden Cinema

Golden Cinema

Based out of Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, Golden Cinema is a three-piece power pop band with a penchant for summery melodies and bouncy rhythms. Their newest “Peachy Keen” EP is a 3 song offering that showcases the group’s versatility, ranging from the hook-laden pop gem “Colour Me In” to the 90-second Pixies inspired banger “Nostalgia”. Lead single “Peachy Keen” marks the band’s growth from their first EP, leaning into moodier grooves and guitar chimes a la Deerhunter with synths reminiscent of The War On Drugs. Recorded over the summer of 2019 and mixed by Dan Griffin (Teen Ravine, Arkells), Golden Cinema’s “Peachy Keen” EP is a concise 3-act melodic adventure that leaves you wanting more.

Band members Andy MacDonald (vox/bass), Derek Ellis (drums) and Chris Robison (guitar/vox) cut their chops during the East Coast pop boom of the early 2000s, playing with popular groups such as the Polaris Prize nominated Two Hours Traffic, The Danks, North Lakes and Wildcat. In 2016 Golden Cinema released their debut self-titled EP, with singles “Lost at the Movies” and “Sunset Holiday” finding their way onto CBC and satellite radio.
