Deconstructing Sequence Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (https://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD. What type of artist are you?
Tiberius: First of all greetings to all readers from cold Poland

Deconstructing Sequence is an extreme act of music filled with influences from various types of other music genres. Our roots will always stay within black and death metal however we are not afraid of experimenting with other genres. We are completely independent and not follow any rules or trends.  If something that we come up with sounds good and it for example comes from a post rock idea, then it is simply good and we use it. We however tend to take this other genre ideas and deconstruct them into smallest pieces and then put them back together creating something completely new and fresh. We also have our own way of writing music, riffs and arranging the songs.  We want to hear something that will make us think: wow! this is something i have never heard before…
Some people say we make space metal and they are absolutely right however we want to call our music EXTREME PROGRESSIVE ART.

PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.
Tiberius: Morph and me come from a progressive black metal band Northwail which split up in 2011.
We however did not want to stop creating progressive, extreme music. We wanted to bring it to a completely different level. We found support from ex Shadows Land drummer J Nerexo who fitted ideally to our new cosmic concept.
In 2013 we release our first EP entitled “Year One”. It was very experimental  however it gave us many ideas on the next release. We found many really interesting solutions that were somewhere in our heads, we just needed to understand how to use them. In 2014 we release the second EP entitled “Access Code” which is far much more mature and gave us a feeling of freedom. We found great support from Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu who made a video for us to the song “A Habitable World is Found” and from DEWAR PR which pushed our music to the masses.
“Access Code” was a great success having loads of reviews from all around the world. Most of the reviews were extremely good and listeners were eager to hear a full length album. From early 2015 till late 2017 we were working on a full length album.  Again we worked with J Nerexo and also found support from Maciej Lis who recorded some songs on bass guitar. On the 15th of January we are releasing Cosmic Progression: An Agonizing Journey Through Oddities of Space”. 9 songs and 55minutes of music, definitely our most complicated release till date.
Wait till you hear this Shit!  WARNING: MusicSensivity / Epilepsy Seizures!

PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
Tiberius:  Musical: Emperor, Mayhem, Nile, Abigor, Dodheimsgard, Aborym and a lot of post rock and doom metal. Yep! Doom Metal…Silence makes the noise!
Non-musical: Drinking and hate towards stupid people…Of course science fiction movies as well.

PD. What are your dreams and goals?
Tiberius: To reach with our music as many listeners as possible.
To leave something behind that will be special and appreciated by people for many, many years.

PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?
Tiberius: It is always a combination of riffs from both me and Morph. When we have ideas we right them down and when they are accepted by both of us we work on making them sound unique. Lyric wise the songs are about the Universe and extraordinary processes that happened and are happening within it. We have songs about quasars, black holes, supernovas, planet killers…really crazy shit… We have a song about entering a black hole and how you feel when being there…not a pleasant experience btw 🙂
The songs and the cosmic themes however hide other themes which are atheism, self struggle and forging towards perfection.. The universe is a perfect theme to talk about God and why he is not there, about being pulled by higher forces and trying to break through and forge ahead. It’s a giant battlefield but so is also life…

PD. How do you promote your band and shows?
Tiberius: We remain a studio act however there might be possibilities of playing live in the future.
We will have a record deal with polish label Via Nocturna starting somewhere around middle of March which will be followed by a promo campaign. We also cooperate with Dewar PR but we also look ourselves for places where our music could be appreciated. We are not afraid of criticism and we are eager to hear what people think about this music. Is it a good opinion or a bad opinion does not matter. What matter is that someone has spent some time on listening to the music and could actually form his opinion.  That is great!

PD. What do you think about downloading music online?
Tiberius: This is how the world works right now and you cannot change it. I also download music online and listen to Spotify… Big Bands many years ago already noticed they won’t make money of selling CD’s. Money is now in touring so you have to play live as much as you can. If you want to live from music then this is the way you have to do it.

PD. What’s your outlook on the record industry today?
Tiberius: There is less and less labels that actually will give you some money in advance to make a CD. In the old days if you had a contract you would at least get money to go into the studio.
Nowadays you have to pay the labels in front and then if some CD’s will be sold, you will get the money back. Having some outside source of financial support would be cool to have, however if we would wait for it we would not release any of our CD’s…

PD. What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Tiberius: The songs i would like to write are already written and i am satisfied with all of them. I however hope i will still write some really fucked up, crazy shit that will melt peoples ears!

PD. What are some of your pet peeves?
Tiberius: Stupidity, Unreliability, Disloyalty, Lies, Religion, Politics.

PD. What is your proudest moment in music?
Tiberius: Every moment when we know we are creating something unique. Every single riff that was created and you know it will sound huge. Every moment we finish a recording cycle. Every release of a New material and opportunity to forward our music to the listeners.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INTERVIEW!
Tiberius & DS
