Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
DJ: I would say I’m an alternative rock artist but I don’t really plan on what sound I make it just comes out as it is and the I work from there, so some of my songs could be a lot different then others in a genre sense.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
DJ: Well I’ve been a musician for about 15 years now I started playing in school and then realised I could sing a little and ever since then I’ve been obsessed with making and playing music, I am from a little town called Macclesfield just out of Manchester.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
DJ: My music influences would have to be Bon Iver as I’m just obsessed with how he writes and the sound he comes out with as well as Jack White and Ben Howard and my non influences well, I don’t really have any we are all musicians trying to make something of ourselves we are all in the same boat.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
DJ: My dream would just to play music full time it doesn’t have to be worldwide but just playing for a living would be the greatest thing for me and that’s kinda my goal as well.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
DJ: I write all my songs music is like therapy to me so I love getting away and just writing for hours, most of my songs are about what’s happened in my life and what is going on in the world but I think its beautiful when the fans make there own story up to the songs.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
DJ: Well I use promoters in Manchester to put all my music out there for people to hear as well as radio and blogs and magazines ect.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
DJ: I mean its great you can download music online but there is nothing better than going in to an actual record store and buying a vinyl.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
DJ: It would have to be Bon Iver ‘Over Soon’ I just love that song and the way it makes me feel it just creates this magical sound that takes me some where else.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
DJ: People who just don’t clean up after themselves and expect other people to do it.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
DJ: My proudest moment would be playing Gorilla in Manchester it was a sold out show and the atmosphere in there was crazy such a great memory.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
DJ: At the minute I am working on a load of tracks that will be coming out this year what is really exciting for me as I’ve never done a solo project so looking forward to see what happens.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
DJ: Well I’ve just brought out my debut single ‘In The Night’ its on all music platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer ect.
