Carousel Clouds
Salford “ghost-gaze” band Carousel Clouds are delighted to announce their debut album, Tales of Coincidence, is OUT NOW, on Ranch Records.
Featuring current and former members of the likes of ill, Bone-Box, Tom Hingley, Optional Wallace, GULF and Liines, the band choose their name with their fluid membership policy in mind. Having only played a handful of shows since their 2015 formation, focusing instead on writing, recording and collaborating away from the public eye, the first taste of their music emerged in 2017; debut single Invisible Lines was quickly picked up by Steve Lamacq, who labelled it “entrancing”. Fellow BBC 6 Music presenters followed suit, praising the ‘three-and-a-half minute epic’. BBC Manchester plays and a host of positive reviews followed. Wrestling with its varied influence, the Manchester Evening News concluded: “Carousel Clouds take the best bits of psych, prog and shoegaze and create concise pop songs of intense, vertiginous beauty.”
After three years spent largely in a self-inflicted darkness perfecting the album, Carousel Clouds are now ready to step into the limelight. Recorded with Ding (The Fall, Pixies, Cabbage), and for the most part at their Salford base, The Ranch, the record boasts ten tracks of ‘Ghost-Gaze’ – shoegaze-meets-prog songs, all sprinkled with pop melodies. Shadowy themes continue lyrically, encompassing ominous Tales of the supernatural, of spirituality, loss, and of the afterlife.
