Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
CTT: We’re a feel good, high energy rock and roll band.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
CTT: We first formed back in 2015 but after a couple of rhythm section line-up changes, we eventually released our debut album ‘Live It Up’ in December of 2019. We’re now following up that release with our new single ‘Rise Again’ due to be released on the 30th April.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
CTT: Our musical influences include bands such as Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Velvet Revolver, The Darkness, and Alter Bridge just to name a few. As far as non-musical influences it would have to be the fans, they’re the reason we do this and the thing that makes it all worth it.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
CTT: Our goal from the beginning has always been to bring rock back to the mainstream with our unique crossover style, combining hard rock riffs with infectious pop inspired vocal hooks.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
CTT: Up to this point in the band’s career, Justin and Josh have written the songs together for the band. The meanings of the songs have ranged from love stories to uplifting and motivational messages and also tales of youth and the wild nature that comes with that. Overall though, the meanings behind all of our songs are combined by one thing, the message of positivity and feel-good energy.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
CTT: Social media plays a big part in the promotion of our music. We almost exclusively promote it there through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and our website.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
CTT: It has it’s pros and cons. The pros are that all music is easily accessible for anyone anywhere in the world due to streaming services and is cheap, (in some cases free), to listen to. From that perspective, it’s probably never been a better time to be a music fan. However, the downside of that is that the artists who make that music definitely suffer, as it’s made it really hard for artists to make money from their music alone. This means that they have to rely on alternative means to make money such as live shows and merchandise. The music itself has almost become just an advertisement at this point rather than a product in its own right.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
CTT: There are so many but one that comes to mind for me is Could Have Been Me by The Struts.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
CTT: Josh – People not putting their weights away after them in the gym and people who interrupt you while you’re talking
Justin – Littering and toilet paper that’s put onto a holder the wrong way
Carl – People who don’t indicate when they’re driving
Ash – Ignorance
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
CTT: We’ve had a lot of great moments so far but a standout would have to be the release of our debut album ‘Live It Up’ back in December 2019. The album did far better than we expected it to and was very well received by so many people, especially the New Wave of Classic Rock community.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
CTT: Currently we’re working on promoting our new single ‘Rise Again’ and recording more new material that we’ll be releasing in the coming months.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
CTT: Our debut album ‘Live It Up’ is available on all major streaming services and is also available in physical CD form from our website www.cancelthetransmission.com.
