Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
B: Bürner is a straight forward Hard Rockin´ powertrio. No bullshit.
Lots of energy and a large portion of humor in everything.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
B: Mats Thuresson, bass and Björn Ohlson, guitar/vocals go way back. Started to play together in the early 80s and where a part of various bands for some years . Then LIFE came and bit them in the ass and almost 30 years flew by before they hooked up again and started Bürner. After writing songs with a drum machine we found Jan Andersson to play the the drums and after that things have been flying with record deal, video releases and so on…
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
B: We are no youngsters so our influences comes from everything we have heard over the years. Hard Rock, Punk, Heavy Metal, Rock, Blues, you name it…But to say one thing, it have to be genuine music, played by genuine people. No electronic shit. Bands that have inspired us are so many.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
B: I guess we all dream about this fucking pandemic to end so that we can come out and play again. Our goal is to play asskickin´ Rock´n´Roll for a crowd and keep recording and release our music.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
B: We write our songs when we rehearse. All members are included in the process. However, most of the first ideas to a song come from a riff found on a guitar, a cool song title, a story we hear or something like that. Songs can be about anything that comes into mind when we write them. Lyrics are often fantasy and/or a laugh.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
B: We have our label Time to Kill Records that do a great job promoting us, and a guy to book our gigs. Then we try to be active on social media. Spotify, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram etc….
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
B: What is there to say really? The fact that people can download music online is something we believe is here to stay. Everyone that produces music have to adapt to this. We think that if you put your music out you want people to listen to it. We check on our streams and how our records sell. If we see that we are streamed 300 000 times it makes us happy but not rich.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
B: Maybe Bing Crosby´s, “White Christmas”. Would have been great to have the money from that song and then get on with writing asskickin´ Bürner songs.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
B: Slimy people. All talk and no workshop types. Running out of beer.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
B: Probably when we held our album “Baptized in Gasoline” in our hands. It was a fine moment and a great achievement from all of us.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
B: Right now we are working on promoting our album “Baptized in Gasoline” that was released September 30th. We are also in the making of a Christmas video with a new song called Hard Rock Christmas that will be released very soon (early December).
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
B: Our album is available on Spotify and Youtube. You can buy CD or Vinyl from: Time to Kill Records. https://burner-ttk.bandcamp.com/
