Blue Plasma Orb
Blue Plasma Orb Band (BPO) was founded by Billy Bishop (Guitar) and Steve Bonino (Bass/Vox) in 2013 as a result of their desire to revisit the music pioneered by the legends of rock.
Drawing on the vast influences of the 70’s such as Deep Purple, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Blue Oyster Cult and Judas Priest to name but a few they started songwriting. They first released the single “Lightning N’ver Strikes Twice”. Lightning was picked up by a host of popular and high traffic internet radio stations in the US and the UK along with a number of Classic Rock FM stations.
Later a majority of the additional 11 tracks also began to get airplay following the album release in July 2014. Because of this airplay the duo opted to put out a video and, as they were sitting on a large backlog of riffs, they decided to develop a second 12 track album which is expected to be released in September 2015.
The reviews of the first album were similar. One example: “Blue Plasma Orb’s sound feels refreshingly clean and uncluttered (you know, like real music)…harking back to the golden rock of the 70’s…gorgeous deep-and-lustrous guitar…hooky melodies, top notch vocals…if you have a taste for well-crafted classic rock, then you are in luck: just put your mitts on this rock solid debut by Blue Plasma Orb” -Maria Haskins, Under Further Review.
The first and second albums were put together with the help and confluence of good friends. On the first album Billy and Steve drafted experienced professionals Greg Peters on guitar and Matt Magiera on drums.
On the second album the duo brought aboard keyboard player Martin Gerschwitz (Iron Butterfly, Meatloaf, Walter Trout, Eric Burdon, Vanilla Fudge and Lita Ford) and Jimmy Keegan, a hard hitting drummer known for his work with Santana, John Waite, Selena and Kenny Loggins. To round things off, well-known local favorite Richard Bredice was brought in as lead guitarist.
