BLACK INCOME – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

BI: We are a Alternative Rock act. Mixing Post Grunge / Stoner and Fuzz Rock, into a deadly cocktail.. Unique sounding with a melodic twist..

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

BI: We started out late 2011, wanted to start a more honest rock band, in 2013 we started recording our first full length album in Medley Studios with Soren Andersen, it was released in 2016 named ‘Noise Pollution’. It really stirred up things around the globe, and we did not expect the overwhelming welcome the album got, both from fans and critics, it was most awesome. After touring with Noise Pollution, we started recording our new album ‘unSOUND’ in 2017, again we started out in Medley Studios with Soren, recorded some of the track’s there, and some tracks in Tube IT – Studio with our vocalist Henrik as Producer and Sound engineer. Now unSOUND is ready to be released the 23 August.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

BI: We come from a long line of different music, going from more classic rock bands like Deep Purple/Dio and Whitesnake to more progressive Rock and Metal Bands like Metallica/Slayer and last the more Fuzzy edged and Stoner Rock like Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool and Soundgarden.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

BI: Don’t know about dreams, but we have goals.. not to be the biggest rock band in history, but we wanna write and play real music, there is so many artists today, using backtrack and stuff like that, to sound right when playing live.. We have allways aimed to play our shows without any help, it’s part of Rock’n Roll to just beat the shit out of it, and in our opinion Rock and Metal music is all about the Music and the Energy.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

BI: Our vocalist Henrik writes the basic ideas, and we work together arranging the songs. We write songs people can reflect on, the songs is about feelings you might have inside, bigger problems with the world, and what social media is doing to our lives…

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

BI: We talk to everyone who has a interest in our band, when it comes to Live gigs there is many ways to do that, but if you are thinking of the Facebook events, we think this is just bogus.. haha

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

BI: Hmmm… tough on..

Well as a musician, you spend a lot of time and money writing/recording your music…  and if people just download your music for free, would bee like a artist painter, who just finished this great painting, and someone just stole it, and copied the shit out of it… We believe we have seen the bottom now, imagine a world without music, imagine pictures and movies without music…. Music can do so much good… and people need to pay attention to that, and start supporting the artists they love.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

BI: There is so many great songs… But the SoundGarden song like ‘ Black Hole Sun’, is one of the greatest songs of all time, it’s like Beatles and Black Sabbath coming together.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

BI: Strange Dog’s 😉

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

BI: Hmmm.. proudest moment is a hard one, we had so many great moments… every time a fans comes up and had the Blast Concert of their life, this is the fuel we live for, everytime our music moves people we get the proud feeling… and thats what its all about.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

BI: We have just finished shooting a video for a brand new single ‘Loaded Gun’ from our forthcoming album ‘unSOUND’, here on after we have a few stealth projects in the pipeline, before we start working on album 3 later this year.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

BI: Next show is great venue called ‘Bygningen’ (The Building), we play only this one release gig this year, so you better be there, if you wanna rock out with us, and get your hands on the Limited edition of the unSOUND Yellow Vinyl. But we’re also planning a tour 2020, but that’s not official yet.
