Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
BS: Well i don’t consider my self and artist. I started playing music after two decades and i don’t feel i can be compared with the real artists.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
BS: I used to have a band in my teenage years, but since then i never played music again! It was only the quarantine for the Covid – 19 that gave me the chance and the time in order to rediscover my passion for music. Twenty years after the last time i played music, suddenly i started compose music and write lyrics! That was a small miracle, believe me!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
BS: I do listen a lot of music. Iron Maiden, Manowar, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Royal Hunt, Rhapsody, Atlantean Kodex, Heir Apparent, Arrayan Path. So many bands… My non musical influences are the images and words i receive every day from the society.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
BS: My dream and my goal become true. I have my band, Battle Symphony and the first album, “War on Earth”. I can’t ask for more!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
BS: I composed everything. Our album is concept. It is in a dystopia on planet Earth and tells the story of a battle between humans and aliens. It’s about diversity and a clear anti – war message.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
BS: Through internet and press.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
BS: Well, it is something that become part of our lives and can’t really change. I prefer the old way. To buy an album, not to have a digital copy, but this is the new era and we have to accept it.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
BS: “Alexander the Great” from Iron Maiden. My big hero!
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
BS: People who walk really slow and people staring at someone’s phone.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
BS: The release of our debut album, ‘“War on Earth”.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
BS: This period i focus on the promotion of our album.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
BS: Well, we never had as a band a live show and probably will never play on a stage. It is expensive and difficult to gather people from around the world in order to have a live show. But you should give a chance on Battle Symphony’s music, because i believe we bring something fresh on the metal scene.
