Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
Avskräde: We are a traditional Black Metal band. We are most often compared with the bands from the first half of 90s Scandinavian BM, and thats suits us fine.
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
Avskräde: We are a duo from northernmost Sweden. We both have deep roots in the harder kind of music, but both listen to everything from classic rock, punk, metal all the way to today’s more extreme music. We have known each other for quite some time and thought it was time to try making some music together.
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
Avskräde: Death is the main ingredient in our lyrics. The inspiration for the music comes from, among other things, nature and darkness. Listening to a really good album can also trigger the creative nerve.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
Avskräde: The ambition is to continue having fun and making music our way. We do everything ourselves and that’s how we want it. That people listen to us, and actually like what we do, is more than we could have wished for.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
Avskräde: Somebody had posted a guitar video on youtube where they showed how to play some of our songs. That is really fucking cool.
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
Avskräde: Actually pretty good. There are many bands that are really talented and the competition for listeners is fierce. But we have reached out to some of them anyway.
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
Avskräde: We haven’t played live…yet.
When? How? Where? The future will tell.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
Avskräde: If someone wants to download our music illegally, it doesn’t matter to us. Hopefully they think we’re good enough and buy a record.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Avskräde: Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas”. Not a favourite but the money is good.
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
Avskräde: The worst is all the leeches trying to make money off small bands that want to come forward. There are actually people who want to be paid to do interviews and such, to then be published on some obscure site. Like what the hell?? Some must fall for it or it wouldn’t exist.
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
Avskräde: We are working on new songs for next release.
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
Avskräde: FACEBOOK: https://m.facebook.com/Avskr%C3%A4de-104491738421310/?tsid=0.9734266617781651&source=result
