Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
Date: 03/22/2021 | Band: Antrisch | Member: Maurice Wilson [MW] – Lyrics & vocals
PD: What type of artist are you?
MW: Well, the restless kind I guess. That type who carries a strong inner driving force and a hungry mind.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
MW: I’m Maurice Wilson (by far the most un-BM-like pseudonym one can find I presume), vocalist and lyricist of the Atmospheric Black Metal band Antrisch, I co-founded in 2020. I also used to be the vocalist of the Pagan Metal Band KromleK from 2004 to 2011. Since then, a lot of time went by and I re-adjusted my focus which finally led to the project Antrisch last year.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
MW: Since I’m the lyricist and vocalist, there are no musical influences that could be regarded as relevant according to Antrisch. But personally I’m strongly inspired by books about mountaineering history, mountain hiking and historical documentaries.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
MW: Ascending Everest on my 36th birthday! Well, too late I fear…
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
MW: Mr Robert Falcon Scott. He does all the composing and I contribute the lyrical concept. We have one superordinate central theme: historical expeditions to the most extreme (concerning landscape, geography & climate) parts of the world and the impact on the human mind and psyche.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
MW: Mainly through MetalMessage promotions
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
MW: It’s a good tool for spreading music, especially for small underground bands this is an easy way to be recognized. On the other hand this is fatal for those who are dependent on the sale of their music. Very ambivalent issue.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
MW: Inequity and untruthfulness
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
MW: In retrospect: having released three outputs with my former band. Currently: being part of Antrisch.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
MW: First and foremost on the forthcoming digital release of our debut EP “EXPEDITION I Dissonanzgrat” – right afterwards we’ll consecrate ourselves to the next output.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
MW: No shows planned so far.
