86 Bullets Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

Artist: 86 Bullets

PD. What type of artist are you?

We are a hard rock/ heavy metal band.

PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.

We formed about 2.5 years ago. Each of us had played in previous versions of bands with one another and we put this one together as a result of looking to put together a new band that emphasized writing our own music.

PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Everyone in the band has different influences, but overall we are blend old school hard rock/metal with a modern twist.  We love bands like Rush, Iron Maiden, and Crack the Sky.

PD. What are your dreams and goals?

To keep getting new passengers aboard the 86B train and bringing our music to the largest possible audience, as we believe in the music and the message behind the music.

PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?

We all write as a unit. But more specifically, Chris usually brings the core of the song to the table and then everyone adds, changes, and shapes the songs in to what they become.

PD. How do you promote your band and shows?

Through social media mostly; our website at 86Bullets.com, facebook, twitter, and instagram.

PD. What do you think about downloading music online?

It’s great. We are all for technology and being able to reach the most people as possible. But we personally prefer traditional formats, such as CD, Vinyl, 8-track, and cassettes.

PD. What’s your outlook on the record industry today?

It’s a really difficult environment now. But as long as you do it for the right reasons and believe in your music, it’s all worth it no matter how hard it is. If we can touch one or two people with our music and inspire them or affect their lives in a positive way, that’s enough for us to carry on for sure.

PD. What song do you wish you’d written and why?

There are so many great songs, it’s hard to pick just one or even 10 for that matter. Maybe to have written Beethoven’s 5th or 7th symphony would have been badass !

PD. What are some of your pet peeves?

Having to sell tickets to shows. That should be on the venue. We are musicians and need to concentrate on playing music and putting on a great show, not having to worry about ticket money, will call at the last minute, etc. That’s bullshit.

PD. What is your proudest moment in music?

Playing the M3 Rock Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion in 2016. Opened for a who’s who of 80’s bands, including Night Ranger, Quiet Riot, Lynch Mob, Vince Neil, Tom Keifer, Queensryche, etc.

PD. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

We just finished recording a new record and music video and have just now begun to book more shows. We have ones confirmed in Baltimore and also Raleigh, NC at the moment. Our website is the best place to keep updated. The reason to come see us is that we have a lot of energy on stage and we rock hard when we play, it’s as simple as that !
