Warning Signal – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

WS: As an alt rock band we take our influences from bands like Cassyette, The Nova twins, Wargasm and Bring Me The Horizon.  Our emphasis to write pop music melodies but with heavy guitars.  What we try to do when recording is capture our live sound and energy.

PD: Tell us a brief history of yourself.

WS: The band in its current form has been together for about a year.  In that time Our music has received a lot of support from BBC Introducing.   We’ve been developing as a live act at venues such as the Dublin Castle, The Good Mixer, The Hope and Anchor and The Fiddler in London, as well as The Prince Albert and The Brunswick in our home town of Brighton.  We’ve got an exciting run of dates coming up in the summer that include The Green Door Store and The Concorde 2 in Brighton as well as dates around the UK.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

WS: We take a lot of our non musical influences from horror films, in terms of our musical influences we take inspiration from writers who have a theatrical element to their songwriting such as Kate Bush, Melanie Martinez, as well as the kind of energy you get from Slipknot gigs.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

WS: Our goal is to continue to grow our fan base among the Gen Z population who have already shown us great support on TikTok.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

WS: Singer/guitarist Eva Sheldrake writes the songs for Warning Signal in collaborating with producer Robin G. Breeze. Our lyrics cover a wide range which we like to leave up for interpretation. There are some songs that have a surreal element to them and others use metaphors to express life experiences.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

WS: Most of our promotion is done via TikTok and other social media platforms such as instagram and spotify

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

WS: As a band we value physical products such as vinyl, that include artwork and something tangible for our audience, however we recognise as a band that we must utilised streaming platforms to further the reach of our music.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

WS: Spit by Wargasm (uk) as the production in this song is insane and we love how they combine electronic music with metal and pop melodies.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

WS: Our pet peeve as a band is not being able to sound check before a gig

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

WS: our proudest moment so far is releasing our first single ‘Nightmare’

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

WS: We’re currently working on our follow up single to Nightmare

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

WS: Our new single ‘Nightmare’ is out now on all streaming platforms. Our ep will be available on vinyl in late july which we will be touring to promote.
