Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
V: I’d consider myself to be metal with a large spectrum of influence, I’ve recently discovered the label electronicore so maybe that? To be honest, I’m kind of all over the place but for simplicity id say metal/alt-metal
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
V: Grew up playing in local bands at home and then moved to Belfast and joined a few other local bands before joining the established act “So Long Until The Seance”. Had a smaller band previously, “Devils In The Details” (Irish one) that I loved and made some strong friends and connections with and had the members on this album too! The gang in “So Long Until The Seance” have been helping build me as a musician and so took the demos that didn’t quite fit anything and decided to put them out as my own!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
V: Musically its BMTH, Don Broco, Pendulum, Electric Callboy, Trivium, Kascada and loads more!
Non-musical it’d have to be the musicians I interact with daily, they are all so determined at getting better and promoting that i’m just in sheer awe at the commitment they tend to put in.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
V: Biggest one is to play, download and get onto the festival circuit. Would love to collaborate or feature in a BMTH or broco song, even be on the bill with them would be insane!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
V: I write all the songs and compose almost everything, im fortunate to record with JSR audio who can take my ideas to the next level and Brett Martin of Nomadus who can take my drum MIDI and really add a great flair on to it.
PD: How do you promote your shows?
V: Facebook, Instagram and any social media I can!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
V: It’s great, artists make almost nothing from streams so actually go to likes of bandcamp or iTunes and purchasing songs make a massive difference in them funding new stage setups, gear and recordings.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
V: Hypa Hypa cause it lives rent free in my head at all times
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
V: People not staying for full sets of bands and only coming for the one, it’s disheartening to see a venue empty after another band played and not given other bands on the bill a shot. If not that, just gigs going wrong in some form.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
V: Getting to play Underworld Camden on tour opening for Doyle with So Long Until The Seance
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
V: Releasing my new EP Memes and Dreams with the incredible SaNPR on January 27th. While that’s being released just getting into the writing cycle again and working on new material with So Long Until the Seance
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
V: My latest single “fl0w” is available on all major platforms for sale and is available to stream on Spotify. There’s also a music video out on YouTube! Be sure to follow my socials as i keep my links up to date on where to find the latest releases and content!
