Ü Blue

Ü Blue [“oo-blue”] is a band with a unique mission, bringing genuine artistry and the sincere love of music back to the sub-culture that bred them. With their roots in Post-Hardcore and their highest branches adorning Jazz, Funk and ambient Avant-garde, the group paints wild soundscapes that purely say “no” to the concept of being confined to one specific genre. There is a spirit at the core of their sound that can only be described as “Ü Blue.”

Devoted to their music, they craft every song with a careful play of tension and release – like a good comedian setting up a punch line. And they are just as sure to flaunt their ridiculous sense of humor and throw the serious “hardcore band” image out the window. Sean Ragoobir, Ryan Patterson, James Rara and James Cifuni are four of the friendliest characters you’ll meet. Spend a few moments with them and you’ll know that they truly live their message of being authentic, connecting with people and expressing one’s creativity to the fullest.
Ü Blue was essentially born in a gym locker room in 2010, although originally named “Among Ghosts.” After years of maturing both musically and mentally; line-up changes and ultimately a new band name; the current Ü Blue now stands tall with a full and unconventional image to compliment their musical diversity to set themselves apart from the crowd.
Their official introduction was with the release of the EP titled “Vishuddha” on Friday, March 11th, 2016. The works featured on this album truly showcased the definition of being “outside the box.” Alongside the EP was a music video for the track “Cobalt and the Boyz Part I (The Boyz Strike Back)” donning cinematography with hip-hop style roots and many different filming locations.

One month prior to the release, the decision to transition from a four-piece to a five-piece group was finalized with the addition of our second guitarist, James Cifuni. This truly changed the way we view song structure and ability to fill space. There are seemingly endless possibilities in what we are able to create and accomplish together.

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.”
Don Williams, Jr. (American Novelist and Poet, b.1968)
