Two Year Break Interview

Two Year Break Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: Tell us about the origins of Two Year Break.

TYB: There really isn’t much of a spectacular story behind the band! George, Tony, Dan and Charlie had been playing occasionally for 3 years but decided that a more serious approach was needed.

This was when Two Year Break was fully formed at the start of 2018 when Brad joined the band following Charlie’s decision to step back from frontman duties.

PD: I’ve read that you have spent a lot of time in the studio defining your sound, how was that?

TYB: The definition of our sound has pretty much been a byproduct of Brad joining the band. We have energised our song writing a lot creating more high tempo tunes than ever before!

PD: The single, ‘Change My Mind’ is out now, what is the song about and who wrote it?

TYB: In its simplest form, Change My Mind is about not being committed to a future in a temporary relationship.

The chorus was first written by Charlie who sent the idea to the guys before Brad developed a verse. The band came together to craft the rest of the song and after everyone adding their own spin on it, we were very happy with the results!

PD: Where can we buy the single from?

TYB: The single is available on all major platforms i.e. iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify etc.

PD: What plans have you for promoting the single?

TYB: We undertook a PR Campaign with DominoPR first and foremost which has been great for getting our online presence for the song up.  We have also been receiving a popular surge on major streaming platforms, most notably having reached 18k streams of the song in 2 months on Spotify, so hopefully popping up in playlists will continue to be a good way of promoting the song!

PD: Any live dates in the pipeline?

TYB: We played our final show of the year to a sold out crowd at The Roadtrip and Workshop in London. Next year we begin our live shows at a Camden Rocks Presents show in support of The Kut on Saturday 19th January. With 9 bands announced, it’s sure be a great day with something for everyone!

PD: You recently played the Gabeto Festival as well as Camden Rocks(for the second time), would you like to perform at more festival type events in the future?

TYB: I think there was a slight mix up with the festivals here! Two Year Break played at Camden Rocks festival at Gabeto, which is a fantastic Cuban bar/restaurant!

Festivals are a magical place and capture an atmosphere like no other! Of course we would love to play many more! One of our dreams is to feature on the bill for Slam Dunk.. fingers crossed!

PD: What has been your proudest moment in music?

TYB: Definitely playing our first ever headline show at The Roadtrip & Workshop in London. The fans were incredible and we loved partying with them!

PD: How is 2019 looking for Two Year Break?

TYB: 2019 looks very promising for us! We have big plans to release an EP, release a few more videos and other singles on top of this. We also look to play a few festivals in the summer so there’s a lot to look forward to that’s for sure!

PD: What song do you wish you had written and why?

TYB: We recently played a cover of Sugar We’re Going Down by Fall Out Boy, now that’s a catchy song isn’t it? I think it’s safe to say we wouldn’t have scrapped that song had we come up with it!

PD: Who is your Rock God?

TYB: There are honestly too many to pick just one, so we are going to put a list together (in no particular order)! 😉

Billie Joe Armstrong – Green Day

Dave Grohl – Foo Fighters

Tom Delonge – Blink 182

Mark Hoppus – Blink 182

Ryan Key – Yellowcard

Alex Gaskarth – All Time Low

Jeremy McKinnon – A Day To Remember

Olly Sykes – Bring Me The Horizon

Dewey Finn – The School Of Rock

That last one 😀

PD: Why should we check out Two Year Break?

TYB: If you’re looking for 5 idiots who love to play high energy, entertaining & catchy tunes whilst visibly having a laugh doing it, then you need not look further than us!

PD: Any message to the readers of this post?

TYB: We would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read our answers! Hopefully you’ll enjoy our music and if you do we hope to see you at a show sometime soon 🙂
