Trunk – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD:  How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?

Really just a group of people who love playing music. All in our 30s and work full time jobs and music really is our release, passion.

PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.

Started my first band over 20 years ago and  before Trunk, Jeremy joined a band Sovereign I was in, and we’ve been working together since.

PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?

Really just playing stuff we’d want to hear and stuff we enjoy playing. Really just expressing ourselves and getting out some energy/emotion is really therapeutic.

PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?

To just express myself and maybe inspire one other person to do the same.

PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?

Still sleeping in vans/floors on tour comfortably at 36.

PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?

Can’t beat um, join um. We recorded a majority of Eternal Vacation in my bedroom studio.

PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?

Connections are really the best way to promote and not being afraid to hear no. Just keep pushing forward.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?

Hey, as long as we can reach more people, I’m all for it. Rather our shit be out there than locked away.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

Smash Mouth “All Star” cause I’d be rich and have meme world at my fingers.

PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?

Luckily, extreme music doesn’t have to work as closely with that many bloodsuckers but I’d change the head of Sony and make it me.

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?

Playing shows into the fall then working on our first full length, due out next year.

PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
