Recording Artist and Producer TOMMY GRASLEY aka TOMMYGUNN grew up in a steel town in Ontario, Canada. His musical journey started as a young boy drawing on the influence of a successful musically inspired family. His father, Sonny Del Rio (Saxophone) was in CROWBAR with Kelly Jay and King Biscuit Boy (aka Richard Newell) and received a Queens Jubilee award for excellence. On Tommy’s mother’s side (the Stewarts), Rod Stewart is his cousin. Life for Tommy however, as a son of a musician, was tough. Feast or famine. He remembers eating bagels for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the flip side … his home was loving, creative and musical. It didn’t last long, however. His family broke up. Tommy spent the next 15 years fighting his way through life with anger, fists, vengeance, drugs and alcohol. At 33, Tommy turned his life around. He dealt with his demons. Raised a family of his own. In 2007 it was his turn. He wrote his first album UNLEASH THE HOUNDS which charted #7 in Australia and had success in the U.K.

Tommy has put his past behind him. Created a more positive life for himself.  He is all about the love. His next album reflects the world around him. It tells the story of his life moving from hate to love. His album, I BELIEVE IN LOVE is set to be released in 2020. Tommy had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best artists in Rock n’ Roll – Eddie Kramer (Beatles, Led Zeppelin , Jimi Hendrix …), Dale Harrison (Headstones), Greg Godovitz (Goddo); Kim DesChamps (Blue Rodeo), and more. TOMMYGUNN has emerged.

The album begins with “I Am”, a short number with some wonderful Pedal Steel Guitar work from Kim Deschamps that helps to forge the atmosphere, as it builds and builds magnificently. “Strange” is next and the tempo is lifted for this riff driven track. “Strange” deals with how easily people accept the world around them, yet if they were to look at it a little closer they would see that reality is often quite frightening. I love the intro to the next track, “Frayed”. Quite a thunderous number with some excellent heavy guitar playing and superb vocals. “Frayed” has a brilliant galloping section near the end and an equally special guitar solo. “Haterz” is the ‘hit you in the face’ number, very reminicent of an 80’s Alice Cooper. The song itself is about hate and the stupidity of the action of hate. It’s about war and the cowardice that war breeds. “Haterz” makes a very powerful statement.

After the emotional power of “Haterz” the mood soon calms down with “Sonny Foxdale” a beautifully soothing instrumental piece written by Dale Harrison and performed by Dale Harrison on piano, Tommy’s father Sonny Del Rio on Sax and Kevin Fox on Cello. I am so impressed with how relaxing this number is. “Love Conquers All” rocks the house. It has quite a funky beat to it as it stresses the fact that love actually does conquer all. Don’t give in to hate, there is an alternative. “Baby XO” is a much more commercial sounding tune. It is a love song that still rocks and has the most wonderful sing-along vibe to it. “Baby xo” was written by Tommy for his wife and it simply oozes with affection.

“Gone” is about living in the now, making the most of your life. Not letting things pass you by. Again we are treated to some masterly guitar work from Joe McNeil. If it’s chunky rockin’ riffs that you’re into, then check out “Jct 66”. Hard and heavy comes to mind as drummer Dan Fila and bassist Mike King form a rhythm section that would impress any rock fan. The track is about the loss of a friend, taken way too early in life. It’s an awesome tribute to a loved one.

“Richard” is about the first time that Tommy met Richard Newell (King Biscuit Boy) the gifted Canadian Blues artist who passed away back in 2003. It’s unsurprisingly a bluesy number “Richard played the blues for the whole world to love. And though he’s gone, his love lives on. Blowing red hot fire.” With Tommy getting help from his father to write this salute to a fallen hero. It is a song of love, respect and idolisation.

“I Am (Reprise)” brings us back to the question, “Is it better to love than hate?” The power to do the ‘right’ thing is within us all.

With “I Believe In Love” You will be impressed with the quality of the music and the deepness of the lyrics. TOMMY GRASLEY aka TOMMYGUNN has delivered a record that will take you on a journey from Hate to Love. It will make you think about your life and the world around you. It will offer you a new hope that change can happen.
