The Rubettes feat John Mick and Steve – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

TR: I am a multi instrumental musician that sings, composes and produces.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

TR: Since hearing ‘Hell raiser’ I wanted to be a musician. My journey to this heavenly state began in Australia, then Southend on sea and now in Sussex. I studied classical music as a child which set me up for my varied career that has been extremely lucky for me so far.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

TR: Musical: George Martin, Queen, Iron Maiden, Trevor horn etc

Non Musical: Hiram Abiff, dig deeper:)

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

TR: Merely a continuance of the success curve and appreciation by the growing number of fans.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

TR: I co-write with many tunesmiths including my wife Aly. The songs can be about anything that stirs feelings whilst still being ‘catchy’.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

TR: The band is promoted on the web and Facebook. Shows are via various agents and some directly booked as well.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

TR: It is a means to an end…

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

TR: ‘Music’ John Miles. It says it all.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

TR: Bad manners (not the band) Bad sound, anyone playing ‘the diva’ without just cause.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

TR: Hearing the ‘scottish pops orchestra’ playing my scores and nodding in approval. A nod from ones peers is a great feeling.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

TR: New arrangements for orchestras, a new single called ‘back on the road’ (go figure:)

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

TR: You’ll have to search all the usual platforms but its out there!
