The Rivers – Interview

Interview with Dan from The Rivers and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

I was lucky to catch a quick chat with Dan from The Rivers just before the bands excellent set at the inaugural SWNDFest held at The Bunkhouse Swansea

PD:  How would you describe yourself as a band?

D: A straight up indie rock and roll band, no tricks or anything mad, just big sounding songs

PD: Who are your musical influences, what inspired you to take up music?

D: In the band there’s loads from Blues – HipHop and everything in between, but the sound really comes from the 2000s Guitar Rock kinda bands, The Strokes, Killers etc…

PD:  What is your favourite song to perform live?

D: It changes for me, but at the minute im liking ‘Realise’ or ‘Juncture’

PD:  What has been your proudest moment in music?

D: Putting out the first EP was a big one, because it’s the first time you have music out and it’s good to see it go from an idea to being out there for people to hear… But, Probably getting signed to SWND, just having someone believe in what you’re making and seeing something there is good feeling, and one that’s definitely needed when you’ve been a band for 5 years like us haha

PD:  What would you say is the most important thing that you have learned from your career so far, any advice for up-and-coming musicians out there?

D: Just to say yes to as many opportunities as you can, you never know what it might lead to, and just graft hard

PD:  Are there any plans for a follow up to Long Road From Nowhere?

D: We’ve been in the studio recording recently, but we’re in no rush to put out another EP, we want to sit on a single for a bit and push that release as far as we can, But there’s definitely songs there for another…soon

PD:  And what about the singles, who chooses what goes out and when?

D: We just see what we’re buzzing off the most i guess, we’re pretty in sync of what we think will sound good as a single so there’s been no fights on that, yet

PD:  Have you got any gigs planned for the future, where can people see you live?

D: A Few unannounced ones at the minute For July and August, but keep an eye on socials. We’re Supporting The Vapors in September that’s one I know i can talk about for sure

PD: Are there any bands that you are looking forward to sharing the bill with?

D: The Velvet Starlings….. Just a shame the stage isn’t in their hometown of sunny LA, THAT would’ve been even better!

PD:  Will you be playing any new tracks tonight?

D: One, For the first time ever, it was too good not to play before its released

PD:  How is the rest of 2022 looking for you?

D: Busy mate! and productive, got the new single that’s ready to come out soon & another one in the back pocket for later in the year maybe… We just want to gig as much as we can really, spread the word and pick up a few new fans along the way

PD:  Many thanks for chatting with us today. Before you go, can you tell us where people can learn more about you and buy your music/merch from?

D: Thanks fot the support mate.
