The Rift – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

TR: We are a rock band with metal & alternative influences

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

TR: I realized early on rock and roll and playing guitar was going to be my thing.  One of the first concert memories I have is of seeing Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters play with the Police, Dave Grohl climbed this like 100 ft sound tower with his guitar, I was like I have to do that!

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

TR: Musically, we are influenced by a diverse group from Metallica & the Big 4 to The Police, Foo Fighters, & Rodrigo Y Garbriela  & System of a down, we’re all over the place.

For me some of my non musical influences would be Kobe Bryant & my family of course. Anyone who pushes the envelope and strives for heights

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

TR: You got have big goals we’d love to have as big an impact on future artists as Our idols did on us, I think that would be pretty cool so hopefully we get to that place.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

We write our songs together & topics can vary but they are all unfiltered and 100% us.

TR: Lost Angeles our latest is a tribute to some of our idols that we grew up inspired by here in Southern California. The song was inspired by Kobe, Taylor Hawkins, & Eddie Van Halen

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

TR: We’ll do whatever it takes goofy videos, flyers on your mom’s car, face to face on the street with folks, online videos, social media promo, etc.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

TR: I think it’d be great if more people paid and downloaded or streamed music & artists got more of what they deserve.  Music is so important to so many people so I guess I think it has to change at some point.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

TR: The thong song, because DAAT ASS lol

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

TR: People ripping off other peoples’ music, or just cookie cutter Music in general, & overpriced tiny grilled cheese sandwiches at hipster bars

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

TR: Performing at multiple Vans Warped Tour shows & seeing our name on the Marque with Joan Jett was pretty rad, and then being selected on Next2Rock and 95.5 KLOSFm here in Los Angeles was amazing, it was the radio station we grew up on so having our music on there was a dream come true

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?

TR: We are currently in the process of recording our 2nd full length album as well as multiple touring avenues, news to come about that later.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
