The KillerHertz – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete´s Rock News and Views

PD: What type of artist are you?

TKH: A rock band that has a lot of energy – a catchy chorus and tight beats – A band just having fun playing music

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself
TKH: We started back in 2011 rehearsing once a week on borrowed instruments – we were childhood friends who have had a break from the music scene due to family and kids…we came from different bands, such as Saturnus, Pitch Black and Morbid Vision, meaning we mostly played trash and death metal. But after a few years break we were eager to start a band together – and in the rock genre instead.
There are only two members left from the starting period, Thomas Trold and Kent KillerHertz. The two new spots are now filled in with Jonas Roxx on lead guitar and Jakob Nielsen on bass.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
TKH: Our musical influence is bands such as Megadeth, Metallica, Volbeat, Iron Maiden, Kiss – mostly from the 80´s and 90´s – a non-musical is more difficult, because there´s always some classical phrase or a pop-song that has either a transition, or perhaps a start that could have had an influence or an inspiration to the way that we think in a musical way today.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?
TKH: The goals are to play some bigger venues, like festivals and to play abroad – Perhaps a small tour…

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
TKH: Our singer Thomas Trold writes all texts and the songs are about everyday life in all its meaning – like love, expectations, breaking up, people in general, who we are and so on…

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
TKH: In the beginning it was through a distribution company called Target and later a German company, who was doing some of the promotion parts – today we do it all our self, mainly through Facebook, YouTube etc.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
TKH: We are almost the same ages in the band – and we are from a time with records and later CDs – but there are pros and cons to streaming – it´s easy to get new music today and there´s a lot of it – but at the same time the artist has lost a very important income.

PD: What song do you wish you´d written and why?
TKH: We have like a hundred of those or maybe more – everything from Megadeth to Foreigner – Motley to King Diamond. mostly songs because of how the music was written, like the riffs, the breaks, the transitions etc. – or perhaps even one of the big pop songs, mainly because of the big income ha-ha…If you ask Thomas Trold it would be Fight to survive with Stan Bush.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
TKH: Well we are a big annoyance to each other – constantly going on each other’s nerves, but in positive way ha-ha

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
TKH: As a band – getting through our first couple of gigs ha-ha…. Well the proudest moment must be, when your standing with your new album you’ve made from scratch, and finally standing there with a complete product, that´s a blessing

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
TKH: We are working on our upcoming EP album – producing music videos at the moment – with four video releases within a month and a half of each other, which means releases in January, March, May and June. Concert schedule are in the making. Lots of new stuff… patches, t-shirts etc. We are very productive at the moment

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there?
TKH: Our next show will be in Copenhagen – high energy rock concert and giving away free stuff 😉
